I was 20 lbs overweight when he met me. I was still overweight when we got married.

The moral of the story is: you sound like an awesome chick and if he's equally awesome, he'll see that.

(I'd also wear a dress on that date but I'm terrible at dressing up my jeans.)

OP, how about a different perspective: go and see if YOU like him, rather than if he likes you. The great thing about a first date is that you never have to see him again. Go in a pretty dress (maybe after a trip to the salon if you have time) so that you can enjoy some confidence.

DON'T order a salad! Enjoy the meal and have a drink or two. Ask a few questions to see if you have common interests. See if being with him makes you feel relaxed and at ease. See whether his company makes YOU feel good. If not, feel free to tell him, "I'd rather just be friends" (and never call him back if you don't want it).

If he's fun, ask him to a movie you like, whether it's a date movie or an action movie. Do what DH and I do: split the difference and go see Liam Neeson movies.

Better yet, go on three or four more dates to see if you enjoy the guys. If not, move on. You have options. Enjoy them. Enjoy being single. You deserve it.

Never thought about it that way! You are totally right, I might end up not even liking the guy. Oh and I am not one of those salad chicks ( explains the 20lbs gain in a few months). I haven't been out in a while and I've been on a "blind date" only once in my life, so this is all new to me! Thank you
