Am I wrong for refusing to go to my great grandmother's funeral

I am so sorry for your loss. I am sorry that you are grieving for a family you wished you had as well. I have come to the conclusion while the ideal is that "everyone should be able to handle everything" - this is not reality.

An uncle in my family was "guilted" into attending a family funeral and he ended up disrupting it with anger directed at different people. The funeral director had to intervene. After that experience, I understand why other family members had chosen to not attend other funerals - such as an alcoholic aunt who just cant' control herself.

What do you need to prove and to who?

Good luck.
