Silver Spring is DC's highest rated suburb

Anonymous
13:42 talks about walk ability, etc of her part of SS....in support of the OP of the thread..."best suburb." I'm merely pointing out how (1) other burbs are essentially the same, and (2) it's odd to say SS without narrowing in on what part if SS since its so freaking huge. That's all.

I'm the Woodmoor PP who talked a little about walkability. I agree that when discussing Silver Spring one should be specific about area. Four Corners and to the DC line is certainly one section, there are others. I like my part of Silver Spring - I think it has a lot to offer, the schools are pretty good, I think there is good value in the housing.

I also love Olney. It's too far out for me to live, but I like the town center, the soccer complex is great, the homes out there are beautiful and larger than what you get for your money where I live.

I also think there are other good suburbs of DC. I am a little surprised that SS was at the top of this list (however random the list may be) but in thinking about it further, it makes some sense. I don't for a second think my block, neighborhood, suburb, whatever has a monopoly on being a good place to live.

I'm sorry, but you'll have to leave this thread. You're being entirely too reasonable.

Do you go on threads in which OP says "tell me what you love about DC!" and point out the parts of the city that are rundown or don't have a Metro station? The good and the bad qualities of most of the larger suburbs, and DC itself, are well-known. You have a weird axe to grind.

No axe to grind...just weighing in on a thread and getting annoyed with the folks asking me what the point of my post is. What's the point of any of the posts? We're all just shooting the breeze. That's all.

Not really. We are talking about Silver Spring being highly-rated. We are not, on the other hand, talking about Olney.

Like the Rockville poster and others posting about the superiority of Bethesda and Potomac, I was merely pointing out another community that offers good benefits. That's all. And having been raised in SS and owned a home there at one point, I was highlighting the fact that SS is soooo super huge and the neighborhoods are soooooo different that its odd to make any sort of statement about "Silver Spring" --- good, bad or otherwise. Because what might be an accurate statement about Woodmoor likely wouldn't apply to Bel Pre. Understand? That's all.

Will you give it a rest?

Jeez.

Why don't you give it a rest? And I believe it's Geez.

Because I AM TALKING ABOUT SILVER SPRING. Which is the SUBJECT of this thread. Not Olney, SILVER SPRING.

We all know you used to live in Silver Spring; that you moved to Olney; that it is a great community; that you can walk to things; that you think your commute is a breeze. None of which is relevant to SILVER SPRING. The TOPIC OF THIS THREAD.

And jeez is a variant of/alternate to geez. FYI

But I am talking about silver spring...can you read? A couple mentions of Olney and you can't let it go? You might want to mention this in your next therapy session.

Ps - I'm not the only person who moved from SS to Olney...half my neighborhood did. Many folks who go to my kids school also owned starter homes in SS. I only mention this so you don't believe that there's one poster on DCUM saying the same thing.

Can't we just agree that although Olney, Bethesda Chevy chase, north Bethesda and Rockville are great, - the 29 corridor- DTSS, woodside and 4cn is a pretty awesome place to live.

What about forest glen?

I like Forest Glen. We almost bid on a house there bc it was a short walk to Metro, but the house itself wasn't the right fit for us.

Yes, we get it. We cannot talk about SS unless we talk about EVERY neighborhood in SS -- even though the neighborhoods you mentioned aren't well represented on DCUM. Anyone who lives in those communities is welcome to chime in at any time.
