Pope Francis on Homosexuality

Oh well, maybe the next pope.

Or, perhaps we should no longer really care about poop from the pope.

I'm not racist, I just don't understand why black people feel like they're entitled to marry white women.

If there's one inviolable rule of the universe it's that no racist, sexist or homophobe has ever realized that they are one.

Sorry. I have many friends who are gay. I have been to their commitment ceremonies. I have a gay uncle. I believe gays are born gay just as heterosexuals are born heterosexual. I am not homophobic. I do, however, believe that a large segment of the gay lobby is looking for special rights in that they will not stop until they have pushed a total acceptance homosexuality without regard to an individual's religious or moral beliefs. It so happens that many of may gay friends acknowledge this, also. Are they also, homophobic?

Please list the special rights that they want that you do not have. I'm drawing a blank.

Enough! Didn't you hear PP already claimed that some of their closest friends are negro... erm... I mean homos.

Not the PP, but I have bolded one part of his statement that is very true. That IS pushing for special rights. In addition, those who identify as the opposite sex want this covered by insurance (and with ObamaCare, that's on us). They also want fertility treatments covered, even though, biologically, they are infertile because they have the same internal and external sex organs, not because there is a true medical issue.

I have no issue with homosexuality. I do have an issue when liberals, homosexual or not, call people bigots if they choose to believe homosexuality is wrong.

Sorry, this is unmitigated horseshit.

You have every right to believe what you like. What you don't have is the right to have everyone think you're a decent human being. You sound pretty ignorant, as well as bigoted. You have every right to cling to your revolting positions as the rest of society passes you by. I wish you well in your future endeavors.

You also do not have the right to use your narrow, bigoted religious beliefs to limit my civil rights.

Yet, you believe your "civil rights" trump someone's religious beliefs.

Big law firms. Where everyone on this board who works works.

You don't want Catholics to be forced to do things counter to their supposed beliefs. So you demand that the rest of us live according to Catholic doctrine?

And yes, you're a bigot. Look it up. If that bothers you, stop acting like one.

I posted the question. However, I have posted few comments on this thread--and I am not the one you are responding to. It amazes me how some people here think there are only two people writing.

And that feelings are fact. That's the issue with liberals - they are actually quite narrow-minded

When you try to influence government policy based on your religious beliefs, you are overstepping.

I see no reason why my civil rights should be infringed just to mollify you.

f conservatives were logical they would support gay marriage. It infringes on nobody's rights, nor does it threaten the security of the state.

If conservatives were logical they would not have opposed the mosque near the WTC. There is no logic to it.

If conservatives were logical, 79% of them would not harbor racist opinions. Racism is illogical. it is economically and biologically counterproductive.

If conservatives were logical they would not be so afraid of science. They would criticize research according to the scientific method and not based on the result.

If conservatives were logical they would pick VP candidates based on their skill and not looks. Logical Republicsns should show up based on talent not sex appeal.

If conservatives were logical they would be our mist vigorous advocates for birth control. It is the most effective clnstitutionally permissible means to reduce abortion.

If you treated homosexuals as equals, it wouldn't be such an issue. But you don't.

Agreed. But why should someone's rights to practice their religion the way they see fit be infringed to mollify you?

So you don't want gay people to do stuff my DH and I do every day? How hypocritical is that?

Well as long as you don't practice your religion on other people, there isn't a problem.

Yeah, but Catholics aren't allowed to discriminate by segregating their churches. We have to follow the laws to make our schools safe, follow fire codes and safety regulations, for example. If we Catholics run hospitals or universities, we should not be allowed to discriminate against gays or to deny reproductive rights. If we did, then we'd be demanding special rights. On top of that, Catholic institutions want federal money for those hospitals and schools. If Catholic institutions accept such money, then Catholic institutions must stop discrimination. Even if those institutions don't take federal or state money, there is no right to discriminate.
