(pushed send too quickly) And you have better access to public transportation and commuting routes to DC, Arlington, Tysons and Dulles Corridor

Not really, particularly where the nicer parts of the Marshall district, out towards Wolf Trap in Vienna, are concerned. These areas are, and will remain, very car-dependent and a slog to DC.

Your view of nice is subjective. whats wrong with the marshall district homes near the existing and future metro. Most people consider the ones parts you consider nicer very far outside of the beltway and reston like .

You say that like she's fleeing Arlington schools. I wouldn't want to live in Lyon Village either, but North Arlington's schools are directly comparable to McLean. They're practically clones.

hahahahaahah nice try, the best is yorktown and it's barely on par with Marshall and Madison

Marshall? The school with 20-year-old pedophiles attending it?

Give me Yorktown any day. Heads and shoulders better than Marshall and Madison. McLean and Langley are almost as good as Yorktown.

Ah, honey. You shouldn't be drinking so early in the morning.

I am very sad to be leaving Lyon Village and I am still hoping something will come along that will suit us there. It's a lovely neighborhood but our twins will soon be 5 and we have to make the move soon so that they are all set for school.
I do not love and my husband hates the very new boxy houses. We would love a house with character both inside and out. The trouble is, we are really unfamiliar with McLean. Which parts are easily accessible to DC, where my husband works and where our oldest is at school? Also which part of Mclean will be near the new metro line?

Thanks again.

I am confuse too. This seem very last minute? Anyway, how about Cherrydale? Very lovely homes there.

Cherrydale has some really nice houses. So does McLean, by the way.

There will be parts of McLean walkable to new Silver Line stations. For the most part, however, they will be in or near Tysons with McLean mailing addresses, and more likely condos or townhouses than expensive SFHs. The most expensive SFHs in McLean that are walkable to the new stations will be near Chain Bridge and Anderson Roads and zoned for Westgate ES, Longfellow MS and McLean HS. But in general, walkability isn't as big a part of the McLean lexicon as it is in Arlingon. Instead, people focus on the overall convenience of living in McLean and the fact that it's a short drive to a lot of different places and less congested than many other parts of the DC region.

I live near Anderson Road and I honestly don't think there are any SFH that will be truly walkable to Tysons East station. There is a tiny area from which you can legitimately walk to metro, but it's mostly taken by a condo building across from Safeway on Anderson Road. I also don't think these are the best parts of McLean. I think that if the OP looks at all of McLean primarily through the "proximity to Silver Line" lens, the parts she will find won't be the nicest.

For 22102, I see 28 properties on sale between $900K and $1.5mm.
I really like this house, as it is in my area:

As a McLean resident, within the Langley pyramid, I guess I am pro the area. Is it perfect? No way? But the schools rank very high, whether you choose Langley, McLean, Marshall. McLean offers a very quick way into DC, and I guess the metro will only help matters. For the money you can spend, you will be able to find a great neighborhood, with good schools, and easy access into DC.

If proximity to Metro is important, I'd honestly look in Falls Church City over McLean. George Mason HS is ranked well. There's a bike trail that will take you straight to East Falls Church station which will hub both the Orange and Silver lines.

A glance online shows some nice homes in your price range, and there's a lovely park and awesome farmer's market. You'll also have closer access to restaurants and shopping than in McLean.

Yeah, those North Arlington schools are so ghetto. The Yorktown kids are driving 3-year-old BMWs and carrying last-generation iPhones. Marshall/Madison High all the way!

Yorktown's test scores and rating fell this year, marshall is now better. Also note that marshall has more FARMS and less white people so you can't use that argument anymore

There are more nice houses in OP's price range in McLean than FCC. It's also easy to drive to WFC Metro, which has a big lot that doesn't fill up as quickly as the small lot in EFC. You have access to more shopping in McLean than FCC as well, unless you're talking about Falls Plaza and the small strip on Broad Street. The FCC Farmers' Market is great, but you don't need to live there to patronize it.

What are you people fighting over? Madison, McLean and Yorktown are all very similar. Marshall is fine, too, maybe more like the FCPS equivalent of W-L with somewhat more affluent demographics.

I'm sorry, are you suggesting that "more FARMS and less white people" makes Marshall more desirable than Yorktown? In any event, sure there, Marshall booster. It's fabulous, totally agree! Far superior to the wealthy N. Arlington schools.
