American Express FX Fee Litigation Settlement Fund (CCFSettlement.com), is it legit?

We've travelled overseas for business at least 50 times in the last 15 years and have spent beau coup bucks. Our check was also for $8.23. A little disappointing. In fact, I'm not sure where the check is right now.

Absolutely legit. Confusing thing is the suit is styled American Express FX Fee Litigation. Never carried an AMEX card. Used my VISA in Europe in summer of 1999 and getting $8.23 refund now. Talk about the wheels of justice turning slowly!

I finally figured it out. If you were in another country and used your visa or other credit card, there were conversion charges for using the card. Later on, the companies were challenged with a complaint of perhaps charging too much. It was just during a certain period of travel some around four to six years ago. Since I didn't spend too much money over there, I only got $8.23 back. Google the American Express FX Fee Litigation Settlement fund and you will find your answer.

I got a check for $8.23 also stating AMEX Settlement. I'm suspicious because I do not have an AMEX card! So what was the verdict - fraud or legit?

If you are not going to bother reading a few pages of this thread, you should just burned the check and forget it.

Received a check for $8.23. Seems this is in regards to purchases I made overseas with my Mastercard or Visa in the late '90s. I visited Asia during that time and definitely used my credit card several times. Seem legit to me.

Appears legit....appears to be a settlement for all major credit cards that were illegally charging foreign transaction fees. I never owned a American Express either so was suspicious, this is the source for any other inquiries.

It involved people who traveled overseas for the military or federal government and used a government issued American Express credit card and/or used American Express ATMs on overseas American bases. If you got a check then you must have returned the original notice at some point or they wouldn't have sent it. Who calls the police???

I just got one for $8.23 and ripped it up. Not worth ANY problems for that kinda money. Retired police and if it smells fishy, it is!

Can the check be reissued to the widow?

What problems do you anticipate? What seems fishy about this? Did you read this information about the settlement?

8.23 must be the base amount as me and a friend both got a check for that amount too.

oh goody! more for the lawyers!

The plaintiffs' lawyers don't get more just because stupid class members decide to throw money away. The offending defendant corporations just get to give out less.
