How much did the Lawyers get ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I deposited an $8.23 check AND IT BOUNCED! Cost me $12 returned check fee. |
Folks, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE AN AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD; nor do you need to have had one in the past. As was pointed out numerous times by others in this topic thread, the suit was against all the major credit card companies. Suits that involve multiple defendants and/or plaintiffs use one name in the "short hand" version of the title of suit. "Ross, et al. v. American Express Co., et al.,"
"et al." refers to "and the others" |
I just had to respond to this even though I don't normally do this. There were more than 7.4 million claimants involved in this lawsuit and we--those of us named in the class action suit--each received a pittance in repayment for charges on foreign transactions where Am Express charged more than allowed by law over several years. My check was for $14.45. Can you imagine what the lawyers made on this lawsuit. Seems we're on the wrong end of the receiving line....again. ![]() |

Would you endorse it and send it to me if you are not going to cash it? |

Read the whole fucking thread and you won't be puzzled anymore. Again I say, Jesus, people. |
Read all the reports and understand (sort of-I'm not a lawyer) class action lawsuit. Many of you are cashing in and some are still hesitant due to probable fraud. My question is for those who have cashed in, any of you got compromised because you cash in? Have heard and after math. That's what we all want to know. |
I cashed mine. I have used a credit card overseas and have made purchases with foreign vendors. I remember getting paperwork about the lawsuit and have seen coverage of it in the news. I have received checks for class action lawsuits in the past and have cashed them. I have never had any problems with cashing any of the checks.
Cash your checks people!!! |
It's actually for MC, Visa holders who traveled and used their card abroad (for surprise foreign fees that weren't disclosed in advance)…you should be able to charge abroad and not be charged a fee since you aren't exchanging currency, and they charged people anyway and are now paying it back as a settlement. I don't know why Amex is the name since it actually doesn't involve Amex card holders, but it was explained on another site and the BBB has information about it too- it's legit. |
Bravo/Brava as the case may be. |
I just called AMEX 800.521.6121 and they looked up "notes on my account" and said "yes, there was a lawsuit and the check is legit."
$8.23 is mine (2 cups of Starbucks!) |
I received a check also. I do not have an American Express card nor did I complete any paperwork on a litigation settlement. My identity is worth more than $8.23 to me so in the shredder it goes. |
OK, I am going to yell now. YOU DID NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD, AND YOU DID NOT HAVE TO FILL OUT PAPERWORK OR OTHERWISE PARTICIPATE AS A PLAINTIFF IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE SETTLEMENT! |
