Mohawks on little boys-why?

Anonymous
Life is fun, OP, relax and enjoy! My little boys occasionally get a mohawk with blue tips. They love it. No harm done.

The fact remains that I personally would rather have a child that is confident enough to express him or herself in any non-violent and law abiding way than to have a child that is constantly trying to keep up with their friends. Individualism is a sign of creativity which is a trait many future employers seek. I want my kids to be who THEY are not what others think they should be.

I am sorry OP can't accept that there are many intelligent successful people who don't give a damn what others think. If my son wants a Mohawk and fake tattoos all over his arms at age 4, he's going to get a high five and a "rock on". Hell, if he wants to wear a damn tutu, I'll ask what color?

A well adjusted, confident and loving child is all I want. Everyone else can go pound sand hahahaha

No opinion on the mohawk, but you can be a millionaire and still be trashy. Money doesn't equal culture. At least not where I am from (Europe).

The troll who constantly chirps 'poors' is so sad.

I'm am not a troll. I used the word poors once in the past year on dcum. I save it for special occasions, and trashy fake punk 1970s hair on a 4 yr old is something poor people do.

+1. Come on. It's beyond cavil that Mohawk or any fashion like hair-styles on a little boy exhibits white trash sensibility. Not subject to debate really.

Next thing you know bass boats and four wheel ATVs will start popping up on ccmd front lawns. Budweiser bottles next to the recycling can.

More interesting than Brooks Brothers chinos and helmet hair, at least...

I know I should stop being surprised, but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of snobs on here.

Whatever you think about mohawks, "the poors" is an incredibly offensive term.

Wait a sec! Is someone trying to say that ATV, boats, and budwieiser are only for rednecks? Well by golly, we need to broadcast to suburbia, You are NOT allowed to enjoy outdoor recreational activities! And please refrain from drinking beer, it's a poor person drink. Damn all those former frat boys from Harvard are going to be pretty upset. But it's okay because they will have manicured lawns and children on Ritalin and their Zoloft taking wives to entertain them.

I'm sure it is to all the Mumford and Son and Adele fans on DCUM

I like all of them. One of my best memories is of meetin Henry Rollins at an airport my senior year of high school.

The only people who worry about their choices being low class or trashy are the middle class. The lower classes like what they like and dont care what other people think. The upper class does whatever they want because they can, they are who they are.

Clearly, these small minded PPs claiming a child's haristyle is low class or "for the poors" are merely boring, anxious, insecure middle class dolts.

Just today DS had a Janie n jack set on and a faux hawk.

Take it, OP!

The nurses in the NICU gave him one while I fought for my life and he fought for his. He had it on when I saw him for the first time. They joked saying he was all dressed up to finally meet his mom. I loved the assimilation and it brings me wonderful memories.

Just curious, was there a medical reason he needed it? I'm sure it was adorable, but it seems very odd that the nurses would choose to cut a baby's hair without permission.

this post was about a girl who wanted a mohawk, but the reasoning seems apt.

He was born with it. They just did the spiky again after his "bath".

It's what my kid's hair does naturally, so I could see him choosing to have one eventually. Any worse than hairspray on a 4yo?

Life is so much better once you ease up, embrace variety and realize that harsh judgment of other people's appearances makes YOU appear mighty small minded.

It looks like some PP's are speaking of 'spiking' a child's hair, which is one thing. I had a preschool student who had a real Mohawk, though...shaved sides and all...and his hair made an otherwise sweet boy look like a little punk. I think they are trashy.
