No Seperate Double Oven, Deal Breaker? On $1.5+ million

cooking two legs of lamb simultaneously and roasting asparagus and potatoes...my sister brought ham/cheese sandwiches that needed to be baked and I couldn't stop the lamb so I sent them back home with her.

My upper range is a microwave which also says convection---former owners left no manuals and everytime I got the convection working---the lower oven would shut off. I have tons of kitchen space and would seriously consider a second oven.

Bitch, there's this thing called the Internet now. It's more than just a system of tubes. There's actual information on here. You know, manuals and shit. Look for the P.D.F.

One for poop, one for pee.

But seriously, in very high-end homes, it is common (notice I didn't say STANDARD, but common) to have his and hers "water closets" in the master bathroom. Basically, a gigantic prep area to share with sinks, a $30K steam shower, wall-mounted anti-fog TVs ..... and then the whole point of a bathroom ? The place to take a shit indoors? Two smallish private rooms with just a toilet and a sliding door for each.

This is giving me quite a laugh. I didn't think I needed a high end home, but now I'm sure!

It's a matter of personal preference. Do you bake a lot? Do you roast large chickens a lot?

I don't bake that much but in general I would like to make sure the home has a good resale value if we decide to move in a few years.

Then you've answered your own question! Double oven is not necessary, you won't use it and many others won't use it much either! Come selling time, the location, maintenance, school system, commute and bathroom/kitchen materials will make or break the sale.

Conservative Jewish families may require two ovens. Might you live near a synagogue or temple community?

I could see it if there was, say, no stove or refrigerator. But in what universe does only one oven = not move-in ready? Live with it for a while and if you really want the double oven, then do a partial kitchen reno. No biggie.

Oh thank god! I was starting to wonder. However there are posters in this thread who clearly are insane!

Nice, OP. You sure fooled me

OP, you are awesome, and the best part is that a lot of people on here seemed to think it was a perfectly reasonable question!

I am OP it wasn't an April fools joke. But whatever. You guys think I am stupid for wanting to have a place that I am 100% happy with for that price.

it wasn't

Fake OP here- I couldn't resist, but it turns out that truth is stranger than fiction.

OK. I do NOT live in a 1.5M house but I will tell you that I have a double oven in my range and it's great. Plenty of room for big Thanksgiving meals, etc. You can get a really good gas one for under $2000 and slide it right in (assuming you have gas in teh new house).

So no ... shouldn't be a dealbreaker.
