No Seperate Double Oven, Deal Breaker? On $1.5+ million

Anonymous wrote:$1.5 million is basically a starter home in McLeen. If you want a double-over, buils one in. Or for that price, you're probably getting a teardown anyway.

Wait. Is THIS sarcasm? I can't tell.

I did however count dozens of homes on the market today in McLEEN that are <1.5M and remodeled, elegant, what-not.

No double oven???? OMG, tear that piece of shit down.

What is up with the snark on here. I don't think this was even a bad question.

She is asking about a freaking oven determining the make or break on buying a $1.5M house! Thats ridiculous. Re-do the goddamn kitchen if you can spend $1.5M. How is she even fretting about this?

Well that's not really what you asked. You asked if it would be a dealbreaker. And honestly when you're talking about spending $1.5 million on a house, it sounds extremely silly to suggest that something so easily remedied could be a dealbreaker. I mean really, how much could it possibly cost to add another oven to the existing configuration? $5K, $10K at the absolute high end? And you'd consider foregoing a $1.5 million house you like just for that reason??

No, it's a really dumb question that shows an utter lack of understanding of home ownership in general and the current real estate market.

It's like the moronic script for every single HouseHunters, ever.

Man: Gee, I like this house, What do you think??

Woman: Well, there are some good features, it's true. But I do not like the paint color in the bedrooms and THAT COULD BE A DEALBREAKER!

Because, you know they stopped selling latex wall paint in 1967 so we'd be stuck with these wall colors forever and ever.

Because, there is no man or woman on the face of the planet who can repaint a wall.

And, even if there WAS some magical man somewhere who still knew how to paint a wall, AND he could buy some black market paint somewhere, that paint would probably cost $536,249.00 a can.

Some people want a move in ready house and a quick solution I don't think this is a bad question at all.

To add, some people don't have much left in their budget after buying a 1.5 million dollar house to rip out a perfectly good kitchen and drop 90k.

I needed one yesterday.

cooking two legs of lamb simultaneously and roasting asparagus and potatoes...my sister brought ham/cheese sandwiches that needed to be baked and I couldn't stop the lamb so I sent them back home with her.

My upper range is a microwave which also says convection---former owners left no manuals and everytime I got the convection working---the lower oven would shut off. I have tons of kitchen space and would seriously consider a second oven.

but it TOTALLY WOULD NOT be a deal breaker.

I miss my old double oven. Our new house doesn't have one. So, no, it wasn't a dealbreaker. It will be part of the eventual remodel. But we spent 1.6, so that probably made all the difference,

I've never heard of a double oven, but I live in a $500K house so maybe that's to be expected. I wonder what the next must-have will be: double fridge? wait, no -- double toilet!
