I don't. I just thought it was a weird thing to post since no outing would actually occur. Either post the school or skip the thread. |
+1. I grew up about 1 1/2 hours north of Philadelphia, and "Penn" meant Penn State, which is where most people went to college, very few if any in my class went to UPenn. |
DD- University of Phoenix |
I don't know how it works. DC was deferred at UVa, and a friend with lower SAT, really no extracurriculars, but a better GPA got in. |
Duke -- small FA package also! |
I also grew up in the Philadelphia area and a good chunk of my HS went to Penn. There were definitely people there who called it U Penn. And I think it also was used on college t-shirts (remember those Absolut shirts). Not that those are authoritative sources or anything. Just sayin' that it is a fairly common term. ![]() |
Miller Motte College |
I'm from Philly also. I always called University of Pennsylvania "Penn." And U Penn sounds weird to me, too. The Pennsylvania State University is "Penn State." But, yeah, people always get them confused. |
My Penn champion sweatshirt just says Penn in old sewn on letters . . . . |
Perfect grades? Perfect SATs? Athlete? What was hook? Congratulations. |
Sunny Brook Community College. It's open enrollment, but it's the thought that counts! |
The sweatshirt I bought at the fancy new bookstore a few years ago just says Penn too. But I'm the PP from north of Philly, and when I talk about it, it's UPenn. |
+1 We were pleasantly surprised (and relieved). |
Yes to this from another Philadelphian with a relative who teaches at Penn. I thought the U Penn evolved when folks got concerned they were being mixed up with Penn State. |
What's funny is not once in my entire life have I ever heard someone call penn state anything but that - its not like there's some huge confusion going on. Go Quakers! |
