Fill in the blanks.

My DS made it to UC-Berkley. Good all arounder, but compared to everyone else's scores/grades, he seemed pretty average. No hook. No special status. Maybe b/c we could play full freight?

Yale doesn't give merit-based tuition assistance, so your economic need must be significant. One tip - counsel your kid not to tell anyone about his or her financial aid amount since Yale's social structure is still quite sensitive to socio-economic status. Yale is a great school. Your kid will love it there. Congratulations.

Is Berkeley a regular destination for DC independent or MOCO public schools?

The UC System is near bankrupt -- not surprised they're accepting more out of staters who can pay full tuition.

Another Cal alum. They try very hard to get a good variety of out of state kids and a big diversity of backgrounds. Congratulations - it is a GREAT school and a great college experience.
