It's one of the top ivies in the country by most measures including admissions ratios, but I'm uncomfortable outing DC. |
11:46 probably referring to Cornell |
Wow. What was your kid's selling point? |
I believe the purpose of the thread was to get at successful admission stretches - your average kid (by DC standards any way) getting into a college that appeared to be above her/his reach. I would not find that obnoxious and actually would love to hear what may have tipped the scales. |
I would be cool if you added why you "can't believe it". |
Not such a coup if you're paying full-freight, which is why your kid got in, btw. |
+1 the standards are low for paying students |
Wow, PP, but wrong. |
I'm thinking Penn. |
Haha. Wrong again. Nice try, only six more to go, so I'm stopping now. You'll just have to suffer in ignorance. |
Ther's an Ivy with a higher rate of admission than U Penn? I didn't know that. |
Both Yale and Princeton.
I knew she would get in wherever she applied, but we didn't expect to be offered so much in financial incentives. She turned down both. |
Most of them have lower rates of admission than Cornell or UPenn. Which are fine schools (I went to Penn) but DC doesn't go to either. ![]() |
MIT. I was surprised because his last math and science grades were not all As. Not a full ride but a nice partial scholarship. Student loans, hello! |
Where is she going instead? |
