Unfortunately this is true.

Yes, because white people don't do the same. Do you know any Jewish/Italian/Irish/etc people?

MS was busted for insider trading, not for killing anyone.

But she was guilty; OJ's guilt remains in question.

I think very few people believe he was innocent. Most believe he was ALSO framed. He got off because the police tried to frame him. Guilty though he probably was.

I wonder if he gets harassed when he was not in jail driving his car or going about his daily business. He can't be all that well-liked by law enforcement.

OP as a black woman I am disappointed by your remarks. At the time of the trial I was able to guess wh the racists were at my job. Educated professionals coming up to me saying things like, "I can't believe that you all think he is innocent"! WTH?
I believe that OJ killed his ex wife and Ron Goldman.
However, I also believe that the police investigators planted evidence and got caught doing so. Don't argue, I work in a lab, preservative does not magically find its way into on site blood.
They could have nailed him with a proper investigation, but no, they had to embellish the evidence. Something that has been going on for years with ALL police officers, white and black.
Marsha Clark and Chris Darden stunk at their jobs too. They were no match for good lawyers.

The cause for celebration was NOT because people thought him to be innocent.
People celebrated because (as previously said):
For once a black man was able to BUY his way out of a jam, a privilege that comes with money.
The worst of corrupt police activity that has hurt so many black men for generations was EXPOSED.

Please grow up OP, everything is more complex than you think.

Don't forget to give Judge Ito his due credit, too.

I really hope you're embarrassed by this, because it's seriously disgusting that he got away with murdering two people because we wanted to send a big FU to the Man. I know, as a proud AA female, this sickens me.

I agree with you and I am not saying that I "celebrated". However, the system is set up so that we rather let a guilty man go free than put an innocent man in jail. NOT calling him innocent, but the corruption was too much to ignore.
BTW, since this case, crime evidence collection teams have cleaned up their acts big time. There are a lot more trained skilled professionals doing the crime scenes now, thus removing some of the ambiguity in cases like this.
BTW, they might have been able to convict his butt without this silliness.
Even with a proper warrant to enter his home, there is no way that he would have been able to clean up all the blood in his house, so they would have found the victims' blood there. That would have incriminated him along with other circumstances. .

Well I am not convinced he killed them. And, I despise OJ Simpson.

What's your theory about who murdered them?

Or millions that don't care.

Wrong. She did time for lying.

He is black but he was not of the same socioeconomic class as the jurors. Although he was brought up poor, he was treated well because of his football abilities and was very rich, powerful, well connected and lived a life of privilege since his younger days. His jurors should have been wealthy white people who lived in Brentwood, not poor AAs who lived in South Central LA who thought OJ was one of them. He certainly was not. I think they realized that after the trial though. At the time, racial tensions were high, after the Rodney King and Latasha Harlins incidents, and jurors were fed up with being victims without voices. He was lucky indeed.

I guarantee you that if this had been the case and if that affluent white jury had found him guilty, that would have done as much to agitate racial tensions as Rodney King. There would have been mass riots from many who felt that this was once again a case of a racially biased situation of the white institutions convicting blacks whether they were guilty or not.

It is far easier for the white majority to want to just move forward with racial blindness and forget about the decades of racial imbalances.

I don't know. Why do people keep voting for Marion Barry?
