Obama has a magic number of $250,000. That is not a good number for people living in expensive areas. How is cost of living factored into this?
My medical coverage has increased dramatically. And when calling the service departments for 2 computers I could not understand the people. I despise the overseas call centers and after a devastating experience with one and a call to CORPORATE HQ's learned about the ability to be routed to a US call center. Howver you must call India first and the call is transferred back. http://www.cwa-union.org/news/entry/icymi_one_customers_frustrations_with_verizon_overseas_call_centers_a_lens_ Here is a lin k to job searches at Dell which is now my most ticked off at company: http://jobs.dell.com/search/advanced-search/ASCategory/Call%20Center%20Demand%20and%20Supply%20Planning/ASPostedDate/-1/ASCountry/-1/ASState/-1/ASCity/-1/ASLocation/-1/ASCompanyName/-1/ASCustom1/-1/ASCustom2/-1/ASCustom3/-1/ASCustom4/-1/ASCustom5/-1/ASIsRadius/false/ASCityStateZipcode/-1/ASDistance/-1/ASLatitude/-1/ASLongitude/-1/ASDistanceType/-1 Lots of engineering jobs in India and I see shitty call centers in the Phillipines and India. |
And I will add to my above post the fact that my call to Dell was for sales NOT service-laptops and accessories. |
EVERYONE needs to swing back to the center. That's the biggest problem with our country right now. We can all have differences, but I am ashamed people even agree with "no abortion even in case of incest or rape" OR "abortion at 8 or 9 months." There is a lot of room in between those two positions, and that's where the real debate should be.
Not just abortion... sorry but that was the most clear example. And sorry abortion is like the last thing on my mind during an election. Leave the far-edges to real nutjobs. Then we could just ignore them. I'm talking to you Sarah Palin! Ha ha would be awesome if she regularly contributed to DCUM. |
A least, you have medical coverage. A lot of people in this country don't. Now, because of Obamacare, they will. |
WTF? NO ONE is advocating for abortion at 8 or 9 months. What a fucking stupid fake example to prove a non point. You need to go take some classes in American political history and political science and read some actual journalism once in a while. The posters pointing out that the entire political spectrum is further to the right than it has been for decades are correct, and I challenge any of you conservatives to provide any factual evidence to the contrary. |
It's called a straw man. Rhetorically the wingnut's second favorite, just behind "you do it too" and just ahead of "you hate everything America stands for". They have no integrity. |
After 9/11 hundreds of thousands of working class Americans joined the military to defend their nation. Thankfully, since that time there has not been another foreign attack on U.S. soil. Homeland Security has worked and we owe the people who have kept us safe a debt of gratitude.
The people to whom we owe no debt of gratitude are the ultra wealthy citizens of the U.S. While the working class have bled and died to keep this country safe the ultra wealthy have continued sending their children to elite universities and they have refused to pay for the wars other people's children have fought. If patriotic working class and poor Americans can sacrifice their sons and daughters for this country the ultra wealthy citizens of this country could a least dig a little bit deeper into their pockets and pay for our wars in real time and with real money. As a result of not paying for our wars in real time the nation debt has grown to $15 trillion and payment has been deferred to another generation. This means the soldiers who fought in these wars and their children will have to pay the bulk of the debt and the wealthy who lived comfortably during the course of the wars will continue to sacrifice little into the future as well. |
Only don't hold your hand over your heart in silence during the national anthem in memory of those who have sacrificed for our country like folks out there in Kansas do during ball games, etc. That is just creepy. |
Many Americans cover their hearts during the playing of the national anthem at public events as a demonstration of their love of country, appreciation of the good lives we enjoy and appreciation for those who have served, suffered and died to keep us free. It's unfortunate that you believe the practice of covering ones' heart during the playing of the national anthem is "creepy". Nevertheless, I'm glad you have the rights to feel that way and to speak freely. |

Exactly. If spending time outside DC reminds you how liberal it is here, you just did me a favor by reminding me to thank my lucky stars I live here and not there!!! |
If it's so great there, why don't you get a job out there.
Oh wait ... |
Your father either does not know what his values are, or else he has fallen victim to the very well-funded Republican narrative about Obama. You can't be for civil rights and vote for the party that is trying to strip minorities of voting rights. Obama is not divisive - his failures of leadership are largely due to his attempts at compromise with Republicans who are moving to the right as fast as they can. Democrats do not need to 'swing back to the center.' If you look at their policies, they have not moved to the left in the past 20 years. |
+1 The Democrats moved to the center in 1992. I'd like to know what actual legislative policies are truly liberal. Obamacare is probably the farthest to the left and it pales in comparison to the Prescription Drug Benefit program, an entirely new entitlement created by the GOP. |
I consider myself the anti-snob but you are right. It is all part of a plot by people like the Koch Brothers to dumb down any threats to them. |
