Scientists think the natural age for weaning is between 2-7 years, btw. So 4 may not be common in the U.S., but it's within the realm of normal. Don't be so small-minded.

I'm a scientist and the data does not support your assertions. Breast feeding a 2-7 year old is not natural in any society, but that number is an oft quoted Kathy Dettwyler paper. There is no country in the world with an average age of breast feeding higher than 31 months (Bangladesh). Age 4 is not "within the realm of normal".

This is my favorite.

There are cases of babies around 8 months old that are the size of some 4 year olds. It's a medical condition. Think about that next time you comment on someone else's kids and parenting.

LOL people are so prude it's astounding. Women are half dressed on magazine stands in food stores but a woman nursing her child is offensive. Ahahahaha, your poor husband must get missionary only if a woman nursing her whatever aged child is offensive. Or maybe that's the issue, did he like the view?

I don't think a naked breast is the issue here. I think the child being four is. It is beyond the pale of societal norms.

LOL AT YOU. NO man is going to enjoy the view of a woman breast feeding a 4 year old.

Right now I am breastfeeding my one year old. She nursed yesterday at a restaurant (both of us fully covered). I think nursing a kid that old (4) is wierd. Mom must have nothing better in her life than to be an uber boober. She needs to get a hobby.

I wouldn't care if she had her dangly tits draped around her shoulders like a scarf. Watching a 4 year old nurse in public is not normal. It is just a mom being too lazy to engage the child in proper, age appropriate comforting and dialogue, or to teach him/her to develop self-soothing skills. Lazy and narcissistic, to boot. "You need ME to comfort you."

It is also perfectly natural and VERY healthy to piss and sh*t and fart. Yet, one does not do these things at the dinner table. Honestly, breastfeeding is my thing too but there is a time and a place. I do not understand how one gets from "breastfeeding is a great idea if you can do it" (it definitely is) to, therefore, I should be able to do it anywhere at anytime and everyone else just has to deal with it.

WTF?

Probably b/c the same mother who allows a 4 yo to breastfeed is also the mother who enjoys getting indignant when others react negatively to her grossly inappropriate behavior and then wants to cry victim.

Sounds like a Republican.

Really? What is the actual name of this syndrome and how common could it possibly be?
If you are referring to Progeria the chance of that being the case is about 1 in 10 million.
You're the one that needs to think first.

The Little Britian clip was tremendous! Sooooo funny that I made my DH come watch it too. Now he's walking around saying "bitty!" while he cleans the kitchen.
