Just did my 21 day spray. Before this spray I had to call them back 3 times to spray again because the mosquitoes are really bad this year. I have never seen them this bad, I am in falls church 22046.

On the flip side what's the point of going completely overboard to an unattainable goal bankrupting ourselves and in the end we have nothing.
My question was not what Europe is doing but about the study (or argument) that it's more cost effective to lower the emissions as opposed to adapt lifestyle to rising temperatures and other changes. I am still waiting to hear that argument despite your unnecessary lenghty reply.

Google "economic and health impacts of climate change." You've concocted a false dichotomy - either we can adapt or we can reduce our impact on the world, but not both. It's a logical fallacy. You might want to read up on logic before making fatalistic arguments.

No, it's you deniers that will doom us all. I guess your vision of utopia is something out of Blade Runner.

Blade runner? That would be awesome, flying cars and robots, bring that please. Or does living like an african tribesman appeal more to you.

Not going to spray. Don't want to add to the toxin load in the air, water table, etc. We stay inside to avoid the skeeters. I also don't put pesticides or weed killers in my lawn.

Beyond whether it is safe, there is little evidence that mosquito-spraying works. Florida and Houston have estimated that their spray programs reduce mosquitos by 30%. Other jurisdictions claim higher reductions, but still. No program is anywhere close to 100%.

In addition, West Nile Virus is carried by only 1 in 1000 mosquitos in the heaviest outbreaks. Only 1 in 300 people bitten by an infected mosquito will even get sick, much less die.

Politicians and residents embark on these massive spray programs without much evidence they are doing much good. Add to this the question of safety...and well, duh.

I actually don't feel like the mosquitos are that bad this year. . .?

If it's a choice between that and a bleak, dystopian society ruled by mega-corporation, um, yes.

My advice to you is not to go outside during the peak months...ever.

You do realize these "chemicals" are used on the fruits and vegetables you buy.

Um, not always. Boy, the super ignorant are out in force today, huh? There are ample organic farms and local farms from which you can get produce that is not bathed in chemicals. Do some research and educate yourself before you make blanketing igorant statements. You trolls aren't from DC, are you?

The stuff they spray on organic and mosquito squad is :

Pyrethrins. Pyrethrins is an organic pesticide, made from chrysanthemums, which causes a speedy death to garden pests. It comes in a powder form that needs to be dusted on the leaves of plants. It has some, although low toxicity to humans and pets. This pesticide should only be used as a last resort, when other compounds have not worked.

I would get your kids and you tested for Pyrethrin allergy before spraying. It's common and can be quite bad.

I'm more worried about tics.
