My advice to you is not to go outside during the peak months...ever.

You do realize these "chemicals" are used on the fruits and vegetables you buy.

Um, not always. Boy, the super ignorant are out in force today, huh? There are ample organic farms and local farms from which you can get produce that is not bathed in chemicals. Do some research and educate yourself before you make blanketing igorant statements. You trolls aren't from DC, are you?

Humans have little affect and are too late to roll back climate changes, we need to adapt to the new norm.

There are ample scientific studies that you can read to prove your point false. If you are smart enough to comprehend them and/or not a slave to conservative ideology.

So which study says that we are supposed to fight against it as opposed to adapt to it?

The stuff they spray on organic and mosquito squad is :

Pyrethrins. Pyrethrins is an organic pesticide, made from chrysanthemums, which causes a speedy death to garden pests. It comes in a powder form that needs to be dusted on the leaves of plants. It has some, although low toxicity to humans and pets. This pesticide should only be used as a last resort, when other compounds have not worked.

The OP recommended insect repellants. But repellants don't kill insects, so she's not even solving the problem. She's just causing the insects to move to a neighbor's yard.

Pesticides cause so much damage to the body and the environment , it's unbelieveable. Spray yourself, cover yourself, etc but DO NOT SPRAY YOUR YARD. Do you really want your kids playing in pesticides everytime they go outside???

If you want cancer, your kids to have ADD, Austism and ADHD, asthma, to harm the enviornment and water we drink, and other issues, then spray your yard with pesticides. If you dont want that, then be cautious, use bug spray on yourself and your kids (that washes off!!) and cover yourself with long sleeves and avoid going out at dusk.

Only 1 in 500 mosquitos have West Nile. Only 1 in 150 of those who contract West Nile have any serious symptoms. If you want to douse yourself and your kids in chemicals, go ahead. I'll take my chances and avoid poisoning myself, my kids and our yard.

You are a moron. It is possible to adapt but that does not mean you go all fatalistic and just say fuck it all. Again, do some research before you shoot off your big stupid mouth. Europe is light years ahead of us in sustainable practices, lowering C02 emissions and all kinds of other measures and there are tons of stories, studies and other materials that outline what they are doing. The US is one of the biggest polluters in the world and we all can, collectively, do something about it but not if stupid, ignorant, selfish people like you keep sticking your heads in the sand. Some us actually CARE about the world our children will inherit.

Yes, but you can also buy from farms that utilize integrated pest management instead of using chemical pesticides, whether they are natural or synthetic. Nothing is perfect but anything is better than synthetic agro-chemical fertilizers, the harmful effects of which are well-documented.

Please stop and listen to yourself. Our parents had worst sprays to combat mosquito and last I checked most of them aren't dying off from the above problems. Everyone is quick to blame something besides their own genetic defects on why little snow flake has issues. There is nothing wrong with flower based mosquito sprays and DEET.

You wackos are funny, too much money to spend on pie in the sky ideas that are marketed to you by the organic corporations. In the end organic companies are profiting, people are overpaying and are suffering from sub-standard products.

My question was not what Europe is doing but about the study (or argument) that it's more cost effective to lower the emissions as opposed to adapt lifestyle to rising temperatures and other changes. I am still waiting to hear that argument despite your unnecessary lenghty reply.

And btw, I will be soon moving to Europe so if you have any questions about how they live there feel free to ask.

Last I checked Europe is going under from way too many government programs like the one you are advocating. I guess you suggest we bankrupt our nation to save the world? On the flip side what's the point of going completely overboard to an unattainable goal bankrupting ourselves and in the end we have nothing.

It's like medieval ages here. Superstitions are rampant and readiness to burn dissenters on the stake appear to be at the rather high level.
