Even the most toned women have this after 40. It's natural, but I intend to hide it, no matter the temperature and RH!

Sorry - on my way to 48 here - and have none of this. And i'm not even the most toned woman! And none of my same-aged friends have it, either!

I know, right?

My mom is 55 and has none of what that poster is describing. My mom also works out quite a bit and it toned. She has taken impeccable care of her skin, diet, and fitness her entire life. Genetics also play a role. My mother does not have even a speck of stretch mark or loose skin on her body.

Did your mom work?

I think it all depends on how good of shape you are in. My mom is 70 and can still wear sleeveless - she looks great and she's not super thin - just normal healthy. Great skin on her face too. At my wedding, when she was 60, she wore a strapless dress and just glowed. So, I think it comes down to the individual. She doesn't like too short - things are at least at her knees.

But in your 40s? Please - just don't try to be too young - otherwise enjoy. You are in your prime. At least I feel that way

Strength training and staying out of the sun can prevent that for many, many years.

Like a PP said, stand next to a 20 year-old and take note of the difference. There's a certain papery quality that's not possible to escape.

If you compare yourself to a 20-y-o, you won't leave your house without wearing a burka. Everybody ages -- get over it. Take care of your body and your skin. Then go out and enjoy life. (But, please, no acid-washed jeggings, catsuits, Daisy Dukes or Juicy sweatpants. )

My mom has pale Irish skin that freckles and just got this in her late 60s. My dad is olive skinned and barely has wrinkles (and no crepinees at 70) and not even all grey.

Good genetics! Probably the biggest factor...

I can't stand it when people post this kind of thread. Do you look good in what you're wearing? Then who gives a crap how old you are - nobody knows how old you are anyway! I'll continue to wear my sleeveless shirts so I can show you all my fabulous 50-year-old arms which look better today than they did 10 years ago, and certainly better than they did when I was 28 and hadn't started to exercise yet. I promise, however, never to reveal my stomach because - even though it's strong and thin- it lost some elasticity during my pregnancies. So, no bikinis.
