| I am horrified and disgusted by the story as it unfolds. I am also surprised, shocked really, at how many people are defending the University, Paterno, the administration, etc. The students rioting I thought were morons, but perhaps they will look back on this after they are parents and reconsider their actions. However, I have several acquaintances (alums and not) who are vigorously defending the University and its apparent inaction and this floors me. Am I the only one? |

I love college football. It has meant so much to me and my family over the years. Nonetheless, if this issue occured with my "team", I would be sickened by the actions of the administrators, coaches, etc. I would want everyone held accountable.
But, this isn't about football. Childrend didn't get abused b/c of football. And maybe the cover-up had something to do w/ preserving the schools reputation, but I bet it had more to do with the fact that this men just didn't want to see what was under their noses b/c it made them uncomfortable. |
PP I totally agree with you. To know something like this and not act is to be complicit in every subsequent act of molestation. |
I love college football and this IS my team. I am disgusted by everyone involved. I'm not disgusted, however, with the students who are on the team now, who don't deserve the national excoriation they are getting for the cowardice and vileness of the university's administrators. I am happy that the BoT belatedly began to clean house. I may be a huge fan of PSU, a former fan of Joe Paterno, and a supporter of PSU athletics (not just football), but I think that everyone involved has got to go. The sooner the better. When I think about how much I used to respect my alma mater, it is enough to bring me to tears. All I can say is, I hope that PSU can recover. In the same spirit that makes THON happen every year, I hope the PSU community can come together to help create awareness and support victims of this enormity, and help to prevent sexual abuse from happening to other children. I think that trying to help others is always the best way to heal. |
| it would help if you all canceled football for a few years, you know get your schools priorities in order. all i hear is about the football. |
ITA with this! I can't believe they are playing tomorrow. Unbelievable. The game goes on at any cost. |
No, it's not just a U.S.thing, but in this country it has reached the out-of-control proportions. |
Really? So you have friends and family in other countries? I can tell you that sports are EXTRACURRICULAR activities in Europe. There is no sis boom rah rah crap in school. I need to get out more? nah . . . been there many many times |
yeah, there is no soccer hooliganism in Europe .... good point! |
| Pp may be referring to sports culture in universities. Of course, Europeans are just as sports mad as people in the US but I don't believe they have their university systems functioning as a farm league for pro sports teams. |
Not the pp you are quoting but NO, in Europe and South America, they don't have all this sicking college sport obsession thing darling. They love soccer and pro soccer is a big deal. Now...when they are in college, their priority is not sport. I was watching tv other day and they were playing a HIGH FUCKING SCHOOL football game!!! and giving all the scores of the other schools. I mean...high school? Who fucking cares? |
Maybe PSU will do its part after you craft a grammatically correct sentence. |
Absolutely my thoughts too. Unless he was also an earlier victim he should be charged too. |

From the Washington Post:
Described in court papers as distraught about witnessing the 2002 attack, unrelated local newspaper accounts from the time indicate McQueary appeared in the months and years that followed in charity events that Sandusky also took part in, or were to benefit Sandusky’s group The Second Mile. |
| 17:56 oh i see your point. maybe psu will get their dicks out of young boy's ass. not! two type of people at psu, pedophiles and their supporters. |
