Thanks for the update OP.

I do agree with the poster who said we have crappy maternity leave policies in this country, but I don't think the way to improve them is for women to come to a rational decision to stay home based on their circumstances which they've carefully considered and planned ahead for, and then pretend that they made the decision entirely on emotion and "baby fever." It gives a deceptive impression to policymakers and decision makers in companies about women and how they view motherhood and work. If a CEO thinks that women will just base decisions on emotion anyway, what is the point of trying to incorporate good maternity coverage benefits?

The fact is many women don't have a choice about this, and many others wouldn't make this choice. I'm sure there are women who have fully intended to go back to work and then decided they just couldn't, but I don't think we are served well for every women to pretend that was how she made her choice.
