Swinging is morally wrong and SICK!

Anonymous
I have been told too many times to count that my lifestyle is immoral and sick. Sometimes complete strangers feel the need to say it, but most recently it was my own mother. I am a lesbian in a committed relationship.

Someone nailing their neighbor is hardly going to bring down our whole society. Maybe some here would be more comfortable with the good old days of mandating what everyone can do in their own bedrooms. You should contact your legislator before it gets out of control.

BTW, we teach our kids to avoid participating in any activity that involves exploitation. Like child labor, porn, diamonds, and so on. We are atheists, and granola. That work for us.

You give us granola atheists a bad name with your judgment about others' sexual lifestyles.
Bring on the porn diamonds!

What people who are considering swinging should think about is the emotional side of it. I just can't wrap myself around having sex with someone without having an emotional connection, too. People who think of sex as something as more than just the physical act of it are the ones who find issue with swinging.

I just can't imagine having sex with a swinger and waking up the next morning thinking 'AWESOME! I just had sex with a stranger... and with no strings attached'. Except the strings are what's inside your head.

I hope most people see it your way.

Atheist again, in my book your are not immoral. Swingers aren't immoral. They are just dumb. Some might be sick. They should get tested.

i wonder about the emotional connection or detachment too. i know of one swinger, who obviously is not a spokesperson for swinger america, but he appears to treat sex as solely a physical act, sex for the sake of sex, with no real emotional connection involved. he and his wife both swing... and guess what? he cheats on her too. it's a fine line.

pp I hear you. I also find it sad that even when these folks change, there are still some sad hints of their past. I dated two men years ago who each said one or two sentences that made me run. One said, " I don't see why people judge adulterers so harshly". The other said, "it is not such a big deal to have been divorced three times, I've had three girlfriends, what's the difference?"
They both seemed so jaded. Nothing seemed to excite them. Complete turn off. One I knew had a promiscuous past. Sad. They did not seem like family men.

Atheist again.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Please tell me this is tongue-in-cheek! Every man looks at porn-EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Uh, WRONG! What a stupid comment.

Just b/c we are atheists, does not mean that we don't value social responsibly. We don't get drunk, because we could hurt someone else. We don't use drugs because we don't want to encourage the sad lives that traffickers live, and the same safety concern. We don't look at porn, because I don't want to exploit anyone. We don't have guns because I don't want to kill anyone.
I have NEVER in my life been to church, except for friends' weddings. My hippie parents asked us to think.

Not all, but nearly all. There is a difference between a couple of magazines in college, and a 45 year old man with wife and kids bringing that home. It has never come into my house, and I would like to keep it that way.
Also, not all men cheat.

DH doesn't need magazines anymore. It's all available online. Get real.

I am a liberal, but the sheer sanctimonious prissyness of this post makes me want to jump in a hot-tub full of cocaine and exotic dancers while firing a magnum in the air.
