I interned with him. His work sends quivers up and down my spine. I cannot stand the light that his work captures, is as if *I* am in the forest holding young Simba myself. *Brrrrrr*. Bob Ross is also a favorite of mine, are you familiar with his work? |

Here is who we love:

I hadn't been familiar with his oeuvre. And yet...looking at his work, it is as if I have known him forever! It saddens me that people buy works like "pisschrist" when they could be drinking from Bob Ross' crystalline lakes... |
"In painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over, is the garbage." - A quote from Mr. Ross himself, and how true it is! I would have him come to my home and do his special magic all over my walls if I could afford him. Alas, he is not in my price range. |
ooh, me too. Had never heard of him before but I really like his work. |
This looks like trash. Like water soaked newspaper splattered onto a wall. http://www.amy-nyc.com/ |
Cool, found some of his prints on Amazon.com - off to Ikea I go for frames! Woo hoo. |
OP here--I like your suggestion! But unfortunately you are too kind in your assumption that I could actually produce anything that I'd be will to put on my own walls...I am really loving that people are giving lots of suggestions for artists here--I find that I am more willing to spend $$ on paintings than photos or digital art--no matter the artist. I want a painting that will feed my soul in a pensive way but not overly introspective. I Like simple sketches that are filed with watercolor--I'm a fan of Wyeth's Helga series--although I'm not specifically looking for nudes. I grew up in a house in the 70's and we had too many nudes. |
PP, these are breath-taking! Exactly what I like! Especially the pastels. I can't spend more than 2500 on a single work, though. I really wish I could see these works in person. Random tangent here, but, can you imagine being one of the lucky collectors to have just snapped up a Rothko when he was first painting? I could fall into a Rothko for hours--I know pretentious, horseshit. But I am irrationally obsessed with his works. |
Wait. Is this a Disney artist? |

Sweet! I can't tell though if this would be cool or spooky to my horse loving daughter: http://elihalpin.com/zoom/1400x720/2010002.html |
OP here. The originals don't. Some are lithographs, Some are pen line and pastel. The texture of his work really doesn't transfer to to the web. Anf the themes look sci-fi on the web--but in person there is dimension and they just seem dream like. Believe me, I hate the computer generated crap. |
I sense this is another whose work is not transferring to the web well. It looks like a silk screen horror, but I bet it is better in person. |
I think it's great but then again, as I said, I love her stuff. We have one very similar to this one over our dining table. Something we would have never thought of buying before but we loved it and went for it and get a lot of comments on it: http://elihalpin.com/artwork/1275469_7_Koi_in_Greens_and_Aquas.html The next one I want to buy is one of these: http://elihalpin.com/artwork/1820265_Giraffe_Family_in_Metallic_Sea_Blue.html |
C'mon. To each his own. What do you like Miss or Mr. Fancy? |
