Was this a jab (comment from another mom) or am I being sensitive?

She may have been feeling bad that she wasn't made up and didn't have her hair done, and she made a comment that reflected that - a very awkwardly-stated comment. But not an insult, in that context. As a very busy working single mom with a long commute, I know that most days, hair and makeup are about the last thing on my mind. I just don't have the time/energy! So very nicely put-together moms can make me wonder if I should be doing more to myself. I'd probably say it differently, though, if I said anything at all!

Ya know...I don't know if it's a jab, but it's obnoxious they don't listen to you or let you talk. For some reason I HATED mommy gatherings when my children were babies and I mostly encountered cliquey and immature ladies who desperately needed to relive the highschool hierarchy, but once we hit preschool it all changed. I met some of the most down to earth and hilarious moms who I suspect will be lifelong friends. I think maybe your exposure to other parents in the same boat widens and you can just get away from the adult brats who never grew up. Hope that is the case for you!
