If she passes the SOL advanced, you can appeal to the MS principal. But, it is unlikely to be a successful appeal.

Got ours today. DD got 91st percentile so technically could take Algebra in 7th if she does well on the SOL. We've already talked to her about waiting until 8th. I don;t see a huge benefit of rushing it and she struggles a bit with AAP math, so I'd rather see her feel very comfortable with the basics before moving on. The other kids have already been boasting about their scores, so I'm sure she'll get some grief for not taking Algebra next year (other kids will think she didn't test in and say something to her) but I feel strongly that waiting will be better.

Not all AAP kids take algebra in 7th grade. Some wait until 8th grade. There is no shame in waiting to take Algebra.

Got ours in the mail today-- Hunters Woods. DS got 96th%, and he's so excited. I was secretly hoping that he wouldn't make it because I'm not sure he has the maturity to handle a hs level course, even if he does have the math capabilities. Also, like some pps, I don't really see the point in rushing through math. But it's what he really wants, so I'm not going to stop him. That's a card I'll save for something a lot more serious than my son wanting to push himself academically.

Mathematics
Mathematics 7 Honors is open enrollment for all students; however, there are specific requirements for enrollment in Algebra I Honors in 7th grade.

Enrollment in Algebra I Honors in 7th grade is based on the following criteria:
? Successful completion of Compacted Mathematics 6 or a year-long accelerated mathematics program
? Score at or above the 91st percentile on the Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test (IAAT)
? Score a pass advanced (500 or above) on the grade 7 mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) test
