Periodically I will take one up on an offer and we have a fun time for a while but my life is so busy a LTR is not in the cards. FWIW single EMTs, often 10+ years younger than me, are amazing.

why you don't have time for LTR? I have seen that with a lot of nurses in their 40s. is it the emotional draining of working as a nurse or physical exhaustion?

Nurses are viewed as promiscuous and are around rich doctors/med students. There aren't many men willing to deal with that for a LTR.

they do sleep around a lot with other doctors and not considered a faithful partner. That sucks! This means you would never have a reliable, consistent LTR.

You need to have sense of humor and be able to get into the spirit of it, but if you can find out where/when one is happening Airport Parties can be a good option.

I gave up on OLD because there were too many creeps out there despite decent profiles. When I got to the point where I'd have a friend call me after an hour to make sure I was alive I knew it was time to stop. I've always been very athletic so across the year I play in a few coed sports leagues and that's been a good way to meet people. I'm not really interested in a LTR or a ONS but I've had a few very nice casual relationships.

They're meet-ups where a big group of people shows up at an airport usually with empty luggage (easier to lug around) and sometimes fun costumes like white sunscreen on the nose sunglasses, Hawaiian leis, etc. Then they run around together in a group asking for directions in silly voices and fake crying.

They're definitely not for everyone and the questions they ask like "Ex-squeeze us, do you know where gate so an so is???" (and they always say gate so & so or "gate such and such", not a number) are kind of weird, and all the fake crying and sobbing is a lot. But some people swear by them.

Join a divorced parents group! I did and you can very easily meet someone who wants a casual relationship. Some of the people are really broken but many attend the meetings seeking advice and some companionship. Most have no interest in getting remarried but they’d love to have a friend.

NP. I'd seen posts mentioning airport parties and wondered what they were. This is so weird that I am having a hard time believing it's real. This is a joke, right? I feel dumb and gullible now.

That’s true, airport parties are kind of a joke but it’s all about joining in. “Excuuuuse us, but where is Gate So and Such?” etc etc and the group running on to the next person or area. Some people really get into it and use Visine eyedrops to make it look they’re really crying “Boo hoo Waahhh,” and Wear straw hats, etc.

Finding out about the next one is always word of mouth, APers says Screens are Mean / Screens by No Means! / Screens are Not in Our Genes, so it’s basically an IYKYK kind of thing.

how old are you, PP? interested that you say you don't want LTR or ONS. I have had a few FWBs but sometime things get lonely and I would like to have a companion that listens and understands.
