My grandmother and grandfather ran a dairy and she ended up with severe osteoporosis as well. I never got a taste for milk. I do eat dairy though. |
| I thought you were going to post a scientific study here. Thanks for the anecdata. My great uncle smoked and drank every day and lived to over 100. I guess it was the cigarettes that kept him so healthy. |
And consuming a food intended to help a baby calf to triple its weight in a matter of 2-3 months is a great way to become obese! |
Nope. Exercise. That's really the best way to prevent osteoporosis. |
This. It does provide great nutrition, but has to be cleaned and processed to not be disgusting. I guess you could say that about meat, too. |
Today’s cow milk is not anything remotely like 1960s milk. It’s got antibiotics, hormones, sugar and who knows what else in it. |
Yawn |
| Drinking milk for calcium is ineffective. You can search Dr R Lustig video about calcium and other topics. |
It helps, but it's also genetics. All the calcium and exercise in the world won't beat that. Ask me how I know |
Yeah, because they are animals and can’t/don’t have the ability to procure the milk from other species. Again, humans have been drinking cows milk since the domestication of cattle and similar animals for 10,000 yrs. |
Very few children would likely get enough calcium daily from non-dairy natural sources. Kids are unlikely to eat the tons of almonds and swiss chard needed to match the calcium in 3 glasses of milk daily. Calcium from fortified foods/vitamins is poorly absorbed |
Most people aren’t guzzling heavy cream. Obese people aren’t obese because of milk |
|
Americans are obese because they…drink milk?
Right. |
Almonds actual has more calcium, and a host of other foods, RFK Jr. Time for a nap, dear. |
That not a good comparison. No one eats almonds by the cup full, multiple times per day. One 8oz cup of milk contains 300 mg of calcium. To get 300 mg of calcium in almonds you’d have to eat a cup full as well. Who would eat an entire cup of almonds? Let alone 3 cups of almonds per day- that would be 1500 calories in almonds alone. Please name another food that has more than 300 mg of calcium per serving that someone would want to consume multiple times per day. Adults need 1000 mg of calcium per day, teens even more. Good luck getting that from plants. |
