I’m a fan of Georgetown but its campus is a dump compared to UVA’s.

I never had a class with less than 20-40 kids at UVA…could be major.

UVA may not be the best fit then. Charlottesville is lovely but definitely not urban, and Greek life dominates the social scene the first couple of years. Of course, you can find your people outside of the Greek system and the majority of the student body is not Greek, but anyone who says that it does not impact the overall culture is kidding themselves. I feel like Greek life plays less of a central role at Georgetown and Johns Hopkins.

My UVA second-year is not involved in Greek life nor any of her good friends - both male and female. No impact in their day to day. They are thriving happy Hoos!

+1. Greek life is only 26% at UVA, and it is all off-campus. My kid chose not to get involved and never once stepped foot on Greek row. He found his people with Jeff Soc debate, political clubs, Larry Sabato's crystal ball, etc. PPL major, great recommendations, now heading to Harvard Law.

That seems impossible. Every ENWR class is under 20, most are 12.

My kid is interested in same schools for same field of study. Congrats! If you’re willing, I’d love to know about strength of application (in a non-identifying way). Like approx SAT score and highest level math. I’m pretty sure my kid is solid on the ECs but not as sure re stats and rigor.

The level of rigor and scholarship is top notch

If your kid needs to be around more attractive people , then obviously Georgetown or uva.

But Jhu is the clear academic choice
