We had to talk to my MIL when my girls were younger because of the constant focus on physical appearance. It was exhausting.

Just tell her to please keep her thoughts to herself--positive or negative--because others' physical appearance is not the only thing people think about and talk about anymore.

We have two kids. DD is almost 3 and looks just like DH. Same exact face and build. She’s wearing 5/6T and looks about 4-5 years old. She’s not thin at a fine weight according to her pediatrician. Very active, good diet.

DS is one and is tiny. 6-9 month closing. Just super petite. He looks a lot like me.

He does have some eating issues but nothing too extreme.

This bothers my MIL to know end. She doesn’t understand genetics is gamble and seems like it’s my personal wrongdoing that we have a petite son and above average daughter.

She will not shut up about it. She seems so disappointed my daughter is big but specifically that my son is “puny”.

MIL doesn't understand how these things work. In my family the girls usually take after the dad and boys after the mom. Its how I ended up a 5'10" girl who looks like a linebacker.

This is the funniest thing I’ve read here yet. If my sons marry and have kids and are happy then I’ve hit the jackpot. My biggest fear is that they end up depressed, incels, taking hormones, porn-obsessed. They’re not “sporty” so it’s a real fear.
