Have you decided to age naturally, gracefully- no botox, etc.?

I’m 55 and thought I would never do that stuff. But after losing 70 pounds my face looks very tired. I had a consultation about Botox and fillers and lasers with Dr Jones and have one soon with Dr Naz. I will probably end up doing Botox and some fillers. I’m scared about the fillers though—that can go wrong. And it’s so expensive.

.

I had high cheekbones. Unfortunately there is bone loss as we age—I’m 55 and they aren’t so high anymore.

+1. My office is full of 40-65 year old women, and no one does anything. I feel like doing anything would make me stand out in a weird way.

Eh, I can never tell what people have had done. Maybe they have great skin, maybe it's treatments or makeup. I'm in that bracket and wear light makeup but you'd probably think I don't because some sun spots are still visible.

Not doing any of it. It makes people look uglier, in my opinion. Freaky.

Nobody is looking at you except yourself in the mirror.

Nobody cares.

Get Marlo face or age gracefully … nobody is looking at you.

I enjoy fashion and have a classic but modern style uniform that suits my frame and lifestyle. I have not done botox yet as I hardly have any wrinkles compared to so many women my age (genetic lottery!), but I plan to consider it. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a little help to look a way that makes you happy.

The overly filled, stretched and smoothed look that seems to be defining the 2000s is not for me right now, but I'm open to educating myself to other procedures and finding a provider who can enhance my look in subtle ways.

This seems vaguely like AI Slop, but I think it's actually just smug human.

I think you can often tell when people have had things done. They have wrinkle free faces, that are freakishly smooth yet their hands look like an old woman and if you see them in shorts their arms and legs often show their age.

When the face doesn’t match the rest of the body I think it’s just weird.

I always wear makeup. very light foundation, translucent powder, some moisturizing on my cheeks, always mascara, a little lip color. No work done. No salon visits for anything. I wear my hair up and trim it myself. Hair hasn't been dyed in decades. It's pearly white, shiny and healthy. I love it.

Yes, if you have gray hair, then you need to have some makeup on including lip color and eye makeup. Otherwise, you look like a bag lady.

I am in my mid-40s and haven't done anything. Use retinol and work out. All the normal stuff. Pretty much all of it is genetic at this point. Helps to be Asian.

This goes a long way ~ no Resting B_tch Face. A conscious effort to smile, a slight smile, even if it feels you're overdoing it. Because if not, one's natural expression when older, is a frown.

You sound like you’re 39 and enjoying this thread because you feel young.

Why? It’s so affordable for literally ALL women and those who choose to be ugly should also be mocked.

“Don’t judge!!!’ ‘Beauty’ treatments or ‘self-care’ and make fun of women who aren’t obsessed with seeming to have stopped aging at 29. Encourage your spouse and kids to make fun of women who don’t use fillers, Botox, surgery - after all, they can’t have self-respect. Definitely explain what being a woman is to your daughter in these terms.

I’m tired of it, never ending. I’ve decided to age naturally, wrinkles and all. It will be tough, all my friends are sculpted.

Anyone else tired of beautifying?

Yup. I stopped everything 18 months ago - no more coloring my hair, no Botox, no fillers, nothing. I'm 57. It's freeing, even though I look much older now that I'm mostly gray with lots of wrinkles. I just don't care anymore. I'm lucky to have a devoted husband and healthy grown kids, plus a supportive nuclear family. It's not worth the time, money, or energy to work on stopping the hands of time. As a cancer survivor, I've leaned into gratitude for still being here. I know it sounds as if I'm protesting too much, but I'm genuinely relieved to be off the beautification treadmill.
