Of course it isn't only stats. For starters, they require and read the personal statement (unlike Alabama and Clemson). And the activities. And the recommendations (unlike Penn State). And so on.

Look, I don't like that they dropped the supplemental but clearly they do have a holistic approach or we wouldn't have high stats kids like the above PP who didn't get in!

They read the common app essay?
What then does that mean no “supplemental essays”?
Confused

Wondering about this too.

Supplementals are essays besides the common app essay at UVA. Or - were, prior to this year.

Supplemental essays are the ones that are extra just for one school. For many schools it’s Common App essay + school essays.

UVA still has one for the nursing program, but the other programs don’t have them.

Ah, got it - thank you.
Like the Vtech supp essays

Yep! No essays always lead to more apps and then a lower rate.

It's funny that the OP probably thinks this is so remarkable when it's easy to see why people just throw easy applications at schools that don't require anything of them.

Yea, well, and other posters with nearly perfect credentials are saying they didn't get in, so . . .

That's not the point. The point is this is an easy way to juice their ranking, as the PP was saying.

OOS private here.
Our CCO told kids to write a separate personal statement for UVA that combined a personal statement in the traditional sense with something UVA specific (almost like a why school essay). Similar to what transfer students do.

So your supplemental essays made their way into the personal statement if that makes sense.

Kids who executed it well had great results.

Look, moron, the rankings no longer take admit rates into account.

Rankings don’t work this way.
