"Forty-one percent of Americans now say they sympathize more with the Palestinians in the Middle East situation, while 36% sympathize more with the Israelis."

The change over the past 24 years is sharp. Americans are finally waking up to the charade they've been told about Israel and it's alleged "democracy."

The poll questions are difficult to interpret. My sympathies lie more with Palestinians, and that's how I would have answered the question. But my sympathies because they've been wrecked by Israel's retaliation over the inexcusable Hamas attack. And Israelis are by and large safe in their daily lives. But just like the Middle East itself, my feelings are complicated.

I still feel Israel has a right to exist.
I still feel Hamas is evil.
I still feel Palestinian people are largely victims.
I still want a two-state solution.
I still disagree with Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory.
I still hate the authoritarian leadership of Netanyahu.

I appreciate that people have sympathy for the Palestinians but it seems clear at this point that the “two state solution” was also propaganda and there’s no actual plausible way it can ever happen. There will only ever be one state, and either the Palestinians will be part of it or it will continue to be an apartheid regime.

Agree. However we know that Netanyahu and his followers will never allow the Palestinian people eqaulity and true citizenship, so there's that.

That would assume Palestinians allow their OWN people equality in the first place, which of course, they do not. Funny how you continue to omit these facts.

Humans have human rights, even humans who do not share your values or religion. Even if someone has abhorrent views they still have the right to be a citizen of a country and not be starved in an open air prison.

I hope this helps.

You can’t force two groups of people who hate each other to live together. It will end up in a civil war.

Again, you are describing the USA.

Wasn’t this one of the arguments for slavery in the US??

This thread, like seemingly every other thread related to the idea that Israel should face accountability for its policies and actions (like every other nation) is being curated and heavily censored via the usual deranged Zionist suspects wielding the report button.

What an idiotic statement- South Africa, Ireland, Spain, etc, etc. The reason there is no peace with Israel is because Israel and the US refuse to address the cause of the violence. Israel stole Palestinian land and ethnically cleansed them. Address that and in 5-10 years everyone has moved on.

Unfortunately when you have a large segment of society that espouses what this guy believes, which is essentially a racist ideology, peace is not realistic.

People can report whatever they want. Its the mod that has the delete button. The "dollar" stops there.

Cool, except it’s no mystery that careful moderation is extremely difficult when one particularly obsessive group seeks to drown out anything that is critical of their sacred cow. The moderator resorts to removing anything reported for the sake of expediency. The nutters and loons get their way in distorting the discussion. Everyone else loses.

Thats bullshit. Ive seen posts being deleted during dead hours when there were literally a half dozen posts in an entire Discussion area for 4 or 5 hours. This goes for other subjects outside of "Politics". These posts have been fairly tame, relatively speaking. The mod has a definite reason for censoring posts. Even though many posts were obviously replies from an American in response to dirty and nasty hate and racism from an Israeli. Of course this is the internet so as sure as can be based on reading 10,000s of articles and posts in the past 40 years.

It’s not bullshit, actually.

In this case, the moderator has stated that there are times when he’s overwhelmed with reports. During such times, he may resort to locking the thread to create breathing room to sort things out, OR he may delete with a reduced level of discernment to avoid derailing the discussion.

My paraphrasing, but obviously Jeff can also weigh in himself. Regardless, my understanding is that his policy is vulnerable to some level of distortion because obsessed participants who seek to silence through the report button can submit flurries of reports.

How long until the Gallup poll is declared as anti-Semitic or Pro Hamas and is bought out by Larry Ellison and Company?

I'm sorry, but you are on drugs, and not the good kind. If you think that I am a "deranged Zionist suspect," you are completely clueless. Someone reported a pro-Palestinian post. I don't remember the details now, but it was inappropriate. However, it was in a series of quoted posts that began with an equally inappropriate pro-Israel post. So, I deleted the entire series of posts. In the process, I came across a pro-Israel poster whose posts were so bad that I removed all of her posts. If anyone wants to make a case for bias, they would have stronger grounds accusing me of being anti-Israel. However, you win the award for whining, a prize that is normally held by the MAGAs here.

FWIW, I meant that deranged Zionists press the report button. Didn’t intend to insinuate that you are deranged, a Zionist, or both.

It was quite obvious that in haste, the mod misread that part. Obvious. There was no reason to apologize for that. Are you his sister or Kevin Durant? This is even too much in defense of absolutely nothing. It makes me question so much about the mental health of some people on this board.

Burner account? Why would a burner account be relevant in an anonymous forum? 😂😂😂

No. In re-reading it, I saw how it could have been misunderstood as an accusation that the moderator (who technically has the ability to curate the final contour of the discussion) was actively censoring based on an agenda to shield ANY side from legitimate criticism - that’s not what was meant with the “usual suspects” reference.

Some individuals believe in taking accountability for their actions. That’s what I did. That’s why I post what I post. Accountability matters.
