LOL, I don’t know if there are “many people” here…it’s probably the same poster from the other thread…same style, grammar etc. She seems to be really upset about the school. |
Definitely the same poster. Relentless. |
I don't think this is true. I saw Regis has two into MIT already. |

It’s true they send kids to MIT but not every year whereas public schools like study and bronx science send consistently multiple kids. That I find impressive |
^^^and FWIW, it's student run and not complete. I know it's missing a Princeton, a Yale, and another Williams admit at the least. |
Isn't Bronx Sci about 6x bigger than Regis? Unless they're getting much more than 6x as many kids in, I don't know if it's too impressive. I don't think Stuy or Bronx Sci are any less impressive than Regis, but I also don't think they're more impressive. |
|
Bronx Science's 5-year average for MIT is 12.6 kids, so actually almost exactly 6x. (https://bxscience.edu/pdf/BXS-College_Profile_FINAL_FALL_2024_2025.pdf)
That being said, I don't really know if it makes sense to compare the specialized high schools or Regis to schools that cost $70k/year, because even if 15-20% of those schools's kids are receiving financial aid, that's still a LOT of kids who can afford to pay full freight, whereas a big percentage of the graduating class at a free/public school is going to be looking to go to Binghamton or Stony Brook with in-state tuition and scholarships. |
|
but we weren't doing that.
we were comparing Regis to SHSs. |
| The original comparison was between TT private schools and SHSAT schools, and Regis was actually brought up as an example of the former despite being free. |
| Not OP and not the parent from other thread. I also heard about many girls leaving last year from Brearley parent. |
| That being said all of these schools go through stages of ups and downs. It used to be Chapin, Brearley and now Spence is in prime era |
I mean is it a bunch of people leaving after 8th grade? Trinity, Riverdale, boarding school, etc. have always been popular with girls from all girls schools who want something new and bigger for high school. |
| Brearley having another banger year. |
Exactly this. I know there are more kids leaving Chapin after 8th grade for coed and boarding schools then Brearley in years past. But I think its a very common thing across many of the all girls schools. |
