What about Monday?

Want to bet on that?

I said "should" not would. I'm talking about a world where he runs a school system that actually cares about educating students. He doesn't, so who knows what will happen.

Sounds like all these people who worry about the quality of education in this county really missed their true calling in life of being a teacher.

Can you explain what is the specific amount that parents should care about their kids' education? Can sahps care more than parents with jobs that aren't in MCPS? I'd love to know..thanks

Parents don't care nearly this much about their student's education when school is in session. They only seem to come out screaming about education during closures. It's not rocket science to figure out why that is...

Yes, that’s been decided.

If we get any precipitation this weekend, it’s certainly a closure.

The photos on MoCoSnow of schools and parking lots are really unbelievable. It wouldn't surprise me if they are closed on Monday at all.

What does this mean for grades? Is there a new deadline?

What have these people been up to all week? I get that this snowcrete is hard to clear but every shopping center and office building in the county has managed to do it!!

I also enjoy the constant whining about how bad the quality of education in MCPS is when schools are open, and then moaning about not having it when schools are closed. "This restaurant has terrible food! And such small portions!"

They all probably paid top dollar to private contractors. The county, and more specifically the school system, cannot really do that without budget meetings and votes. I mean it's not the most effective way of doing things but it's how local government pretty much everywhere is set up to operate. I have heard all the rumors that private companies have reached out to MCPS to offer help and that MCPS has ignored them but I bet that probably has to do with the fact these local companies are probably charging 500% of what they normally would.

Something is better than nothing. This isn't hard to figure out.

Our small elementary school already has a small utility tractor with a snow plow. While not very practical for the parking lots, it made quick work of the sidewalks. I don't know how common that is. Even if it's unusual, they only needed to use it for a couple of hours, and those are relatively easy to transport between sites.
