| National District - our coach said they will know more about noon tomorrow whether we are starting around 10/11 am or in the PM on Friday. |
| We heard something similar that they will work out something today. My guess and what they are leaning towards timed finals during the day on Friday. |
I agree. They’d have to, to be done by 6. |
| Fcps has a pool available at Western HS 🤔 |
Just swim 25s! |
or better yet, don't have 4 heats of every event especially 500 free which is also circle seeded and make every heat longer than it needs to be. Maybe not an issue in fast districts, but in the slower ones it is painfully long. |
|
So if they moved to a timed finals format -that eliminates circle seeding the last three heats.
|
| National district - our coaches sent a note that we may not know the time of the meet until 4 pm today. I guess the DSAs are meeting now. |
It eliminates all circle seeding. |
| They are in a pinch. The meet should be moved to the day and timed finals. But if you do it on Friday - volunteers might be tough and you have to account for the USA swimming officials that are observing the meet. |
| Can someone explain why they wouldn’t let them swim on Saturday? The weekend storm chances seem to have diminished. |
Ugh. I was waiting until noon but figure out work plans tomorrow. We can't do that at 4 pm!!! |
They want everything done by 6pm. |
But why? It can’t be done by 6 pm on Friday then 6 pm on Saturday? |
There's a chance of snow, so perhaps that's an issue. But at least for the National district we would be starting swimming on Friday around 5pm after warmups. They don't have the pool reserved all day. Ditto Saturday. You can't bump other reservations for lessons, lap swimming, exercise, etc etc. I strongly wish they'd make it still have prelims and finals, but it seems pool time is the issue with a 6pm constraint. "All FCPS Schools and Facilities Closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026" that's going to be a hard stop for tomorrow as well. |
