The Starbucks barista poster - move on.
https://www.straighterline.com/blog/common-majors-fortune-500-ceos And many more like it. The threads on humanities majors is so ridiculously old. |
As the PP, history majors don’t just take history 🤣🤣. I took stats and college level calculus, econ. Did you go to college? |
I would say the opposite |
| I was a history major who went on to get a PhD and spent a few years as a professor (TT) before deciding that teaching was not for me. At that point, I transitioned to grantmaking, which has been an enjoyable career. |
| My son worked as an editor after graduation because history requires a lot of research and writing(at least at his school). After a few years he got his Master’s in history and now has a good position with an educational media company. |
This plus it teaches you to back up arguments with evidence. To think about what you are asserting and whether you can back it up with evidence/proof. It's a great degree, OP. I taught for a couple years after college and then went to law school. |
Too bad your kid has no voice in his/her own future. |
No way - History is more well regarded and the better degree. |
legal assistant then law school |
This model is pre-2025. Things are already very different. |
You’re the pp who thinks your $90k starting salary negates the statistic that the average starting salary range is $30k-$50k? And you took stats and calculus? And passed? Grade inflation must have been rampant at that school of yours. |
| History major here - now CEO. |
| Being able to think critically and write well will always serve you well. |
Certainly true for law school admissions where only GPA and LSAT count |
+1 For ours, within the IC. |
