And many more like it. The threads on humanities majors is so ridiculously old.

Nope. Interned and got job as a history major in tech company. 90K+ right out of college

Example of a history major who doesn't understand statistics ^

As the PP, history majors don’t just take history 🤣🤣. I took stats and college level calculus, econ. Did you go to college?

I would say the opposite

I was a history major who went on to get a PhD and spent a few years as a professor (TT) before deciding that teaching was not for me. At that point, I transitioned to grantmaking, which has been an enjoyable career.

My son worked as an editor after graduation because history requires a lot of research and writing(at least at his school). After a few years he got his Master’s in history and now has a good position with an educational media company.

This plus it teaches you to back up arguments with evidence. To think about what you are asserting and whether you can back it up with evidence/proof.

It's a great degree, OP.

I taught for a couple years after college and then went to law school.

Too bad your kid has no voice in his/her own future.

History majors are generally more thoughtful than political science majors. Could do a lot worse…

I've had that thought on history vs political science as well! Political science seems more well regarded, but History majors are more intelligent in my own experience.

No way - History is more well regarded and the better degree.

more and more, kids do what they did as an intern after junior year, which is often set up by sophomore year summer internship.

tell me where they're interning this summer. more important than major

This model is pre-2025. Things are already very different.

You’re the pp who thinks your $90k starting salary negates the statistic that the average starting salary range is $30k-$50k? And you took stats and calculus? And passed? Grade inflation must have been rampant at that school of yours.

Certainly true for law school admissions where only GPA and LSAT count
