| What did your history major student do after college. Anyone do a PhD in history? Get a job at a think tank? Assuming just an undergraduate degree is not enough. |
| PhD if they want to teach. Law school or mba or other grad school. |
| You must be rich. I would not pay for this degree. |
| I went to law school. |
This is a pretty normal degree. Are your children in the trades? |
Became an investment banker. Back for MBA. Moved to industry. Now on 3rd CEO gig. Lots of pathways. |
more and more, kids do what they did as an intern after junior year, which is often set up by sophomore year summer internship. tell me where they're interning this summer. more important than major |
| I've got a BA in History and a masters in Political Management. The writing and analysis required in a history degree lends itself well to political strategy and communications. |
| Both my history majors want to attend law school. |
| Government analyst |
| The university will matter for this degree. |
| ^ie, an analyst working for the government, not someone who analyzes the government. |
At DC's ivy, History, Anthropology, Sociology, and the like mostly go to law school or into consulting. A decent amount go for PhD and of course there are a fair number of premeds. |

I did a program teaching English and US Culture in Japan after college. (JET Program, highly recommend it)
Thought I would go into Foreign Service or Law school. Worked as a paralegal in a law firm while applying to law school. Hated it. Moved over to an entry level digital role in Sales and marketing for a few years. Then got my MBA and have had a 25+ year business career with mostly Fortune 500s. I can write and read very well, and that helps in my career. I also know the history and geography of many of the cultures that are part of my multinational company, which helps more than you might think when dealing with people in different continents. You can do a lot with that kind of degree. |

First job was in investment banking. Then got an MBA, took a job at a top consulting firm, and currently have a very interesting and well-paid job in big tech.
It’s very helpful to be able to write well and make sense of lots of information. I’d be thrilled if my kids wanted to major in history. |
