No defense of the criminal was offered. People were cautioned not to believe every inline rumor about crimes that get international attention. You really should read more carefully. |
+1 And way too many people, including professionals, emphasize that few mentally ill individuals commit crimes. Well, that fact doesn't mean that every single day you won't worry that your family member will be one of that group. Bipolar and schizophrenic individuals can get very violent, and adults with autism can respond in a very aggressive way as well. |
| Isn't this basically the story of Rob Reiner's son, except that one is more acceptable because he turned on his own parents, making the family more sympathetic? |
Yes, and I wonder if either Brian or Nick were in Special Ed. |
And with Reiner’s son people were saying there were definitely signs. The Kohberger family seems to saying that nope, definitely no signs. Yet he was stealing things to get money for drugs. He was no choir boy. |
Kids shows very early warning signs. We see them at school. I'm not buying that he showed no behavioral oddities before taking drugs. |
While I agree caution is warranted, that also applies to quickly outright rejecting easily verifiable claims. That's why I think it's weird, and ultimately constitutes defending the murderer and family. |
Did the parents cover up the Reiner murders? I mean, I guess it's true that they knew it was him yet they didn't turn him in... |
| Not understanding the hate for BK family. Even if he was a weirdo and possibly violent wtf were they supposed to do about it? You can’t jail a psychopath prior to the crime. And it’s debatable his parents had any clue since the people article mentions he called his mother regularly so not sure that him chatting with her on the phone that day proves absolutely anything. The judgment here is disgusting. |
Well. A boy in my DC's school was easygoing most of the time - until he wasn't. A mom mentioned he went berzerk on her son in the playground. Twenty years later, he murdered his father. By then he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. There were early warning signs. |
I believe it. I don’t believe the Kohbergers saying they had no idea. |
It doesn't matter in the slightest whether they knew anything. |
It mattered if they knew and covered it up. |
You're grossly mistaken. It's called being an accessory after the fact. Hopefully they're still able to go after the mother. I'm sure they'll lose a wrongful death suit, but this should really be handled as a criminal case, not civil. |
Don't be naive. It was 6am. Of course she knew. It's understandable they didn't know what would happen, but they certainly knew it after it happened. |
