Jesuit colleges and universities

Follow the money, Holy Cross, Georgetown and BC have the largest endowment per student in that order. With kids flocking in large numbers to SEC and Big10 schools lesser known Jesuit/Catholic schools will have to offer lots of merit aid to attract potential students.

My DS applied to USF last year and visited during the open house. It ended up being one of top schools he considered before going elsewhere.

As mentioned, a good liberal arts school in a wonderful location in SF near Golden Gate Park that tries to balance social justice with tech and social media employment. Class sizes are amazingly small even compared to secular privates. Staff are friendly and supportive.

A very diverse school that provides a fair amount of aid, my DS was offered over $20,000. Showing demonstrated interest and applying EA helps as the admit rate is around 50%.

Jesuits are only Brotherhood run Catholic universities and colleges by definition

Women cannot be Jesuits. Unless I’m completely stupid, which is actually possible. I only remember that there are cloistered orders of nuns, teaching orders … and I forget the others.

Jesuits were always known for being a celibate brotherhood teaching order. Not monastery. And maybe celibate is either redundant or irrelevant today. They’re all but almost dying out in the US

"Old money Catholic families" is not a thing. Catholics were looked down upon in America until about two generations ago and were not wealthy.

^Yikes please do done research, there have been always been pockets of Catholic wealth one example is Drexel family of Philadelphia. The O’Neill family of Akron Ohio founded General Tire over 120 years ago big Holy Cross donors. Shriver family of Maryland sent kids to Georgetown and Holy Cross. Those 2 schools because they have had dorms for almost 200 years attracted wealthy Catholic families.

Very wealthy Catholic family founded UHaul 80 years ago. Multibillion company. Several generations of the family are Holy Cross grads.

Yeah; hilarious to say Fairfield is struggling. Record enrollment. Record stats. EA for class of 2030 is at 22 percent admit rate.
