| No metro access anywhere close, 16th Street barely moves at all hours of the day, and Rock Creek Pkwy can't handle much traffic either. Good luck attracting people to a tennis club here except those who live in the immediate vicinity. |
Lots of people who play at RCPTC come from all over DC, mostly from WOTP and Conn Ave, and from lower Montgomery County. You should resist the urge to chime in on things you are clueless about. |
"Lots" is anecdata. Hard numbers please. |
My personal experience playing at RCPTC is sufficient. Go fork yourself. |

I think the tennis courts are popular (there are always people playing and there are clay courts as well). No one wants the tennis courts to disappear and I think most people feel the area is due for some upgrades.
We just want to make sure that the plans being proposed aren't just a developer wish list designed only to support the tennis tournament and not the larger community. That includes the tennis players who could face prices increases and restrictions. I would feel better if there was more transparency and a plan to include DC residents and other interested parties from the greater DMV. I would also feel better if this plan wasn't rushed (5 week bidding period and a transfer by March 1st). Is waiting 6-12 months, a more standard timeline, such as problem? If so, why? It would help if the DC council were more taking more active role. Other than expressing shock and suprise, it's been crickets. I am hoping after the holidays, the Council will try and provide more information. |
You: We need more transparency, transfer it to DC! Also you: The DC council is unresponsive. |
If it weren’t for elective office most members of our Council would be largely unemployable in the private sector. They’re the last people in this town who should be making redevelopment decisions. |
| That’s right. Trump will take over the golf course by installing a Biden appointee and graduate of Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. Wait, wut? |
No doubt a deep cover sleeper agent who is being rewarded for helping take down the Biden administration. |

Whether the developer is republican or democrat is irrelevant. What matters is a park located in DC will be redeveloped without any input from anybody who lives in DC or the greater DMV. Any other development plan on this scale would require input. This plan is allowed to pass with a thirty year environmental study, no true bidding process and a highly irregular time line of 10 weeks.
This plan ignores rules and it ignores residents. Why the rush if it is such a great plan? Because it’s a sweet heart plan designed to enrich a developer and tennis tournament. What developer would turn that down? I think many of us want a voice in what happens in our backyard. We want a plan that includes us. If you agree please consider signing this petition. https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-destruction-of-a-national-public-park-rock-creek-park-carter-barron |
I don't agree. It's part of the National Park System. By your rules, the people of Front Royal should be in control of the Skyline Drive. As for the 30-year-old study, I don't believe you need another study of the environs of a park that hasn't changed in decades. Worry about an environmental impact study of whatever development is eventually proposed. |
|
If the NPS was going to lease out land to around Front Royal to a developer , I am sure the residents would want to be involved in the process, ESPECIALLY if the process was rushed and rigged to meet the needs of one developer.
I am certain that the residents of Front Royal would be upset if federal rules were being ignored/bent, if environmental studies were not required and access to a community assets was being leased to the highest bidder who has a history of dumping blue paint down a sewer and turning parts of Rock Creek blue https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ybb236n8yXY |
Speculation. If you think the DC government is going to hold contractors liable, you have another thing coming. |
Not so sure. I don’t think the folks in Front Royal are as needy or as easily triggered as the average DC resident/activist. |
No it is not irrevleant if trump or any Republican take over. They will cost taxpayers a mint and profit off of it for their own personal use. Screw you. |
