County and state should treat the roads and you should bundle your kids up. It's winter, it gets cold. Stop looking for excuses for your kids not to go to school.

And yet roads and sidewalks especially won’t be treated. At least delay to make sure it’s fully light out when kids are walking and driving to school.

Just go to bed early so you can wake up at a normal time. There's no reason to delay. If someone is worried about slipping on a sidewalk, they can walk on the grass.

Besides the liability issues here, even if you could get staff (which you’d have to pay) and kids to come out early enough to do this, you can’t Mobilize this fast enough to prevent closure for an overnight/early morning weather event. Plus you’d be asking teens and parents to drive on potentially untreated roads and what parent wants their inexperienced teen drivers doing this. (As of 8:30 this morning road treatment was not yet completed in the county).

There's no liability issue. Buses will be fine, and it is your responsibility if you drive or walk yourself. The snowfall was minimal and probably won't require overtime by the school-based staff. Plows will probably run through lots today.

Anyone can file a baseless lawsuit. But they don't, since they'll lose. This is reflected in the lack of snow-related slip and fall lawsuits.

I'm sorry you struggle with walking and driving, but that's your problem, not the district's. If your child has a disability, as opposed to being careless, you can have transportation added to an IEP or 504 plan.

The snow has already been over for hours. There's no reason for a delay. It's like it would even help with the issues you claim to be concerned about. Things aren't going to melt during those two hours. We'd still have the same conditions.
