It's already done. And they've already cleared the roads. They won't need to delay tomorrow. |
Maybe you should spend less time whining on dcum and find a thrift store with a winter jacket. |
Just go to bed early so you can wake up at a normal time. There's no reason to delay. If someone is worried about slipping on a sidewalk, they can walk on the grass. |
There's no liability issue. Buses will be fine, and it is your responsibility if you drive or walk yourself. The snowfall was minimal and probably won't require overtime by the school-based staff. Plows will probably run through lots today. |
The pp was joking. Obviously that's ridiculous. |
As litigious as DCUM is, MCPS is unlikely to have students come in the shovel. Staff slipping on ice is already a workman’s comp issue. |
Not really a lawsuit issue, though. If you look at the slip and fall lawsuits against MCPS, they're not snow/ice related. A couple people here spread an absurd level of FUD about the "dangers" of snow. |
You are being ridiculous. On time opening tomorrow. |
However, students wouldn’t be eligible for workman’s comp the way staff are. Their parents would have to file slip and fall lawsuits. MCPS isn’t going to chance it when they could just do a two hour delay. |
They will clear the schools today. Plenty of time to. |
Anyone can file a baseless lawsuit. But they don't, since they'll lose. This is reflected in the lack of snow-related slip and fall lawsuits. I'm sorry you struggle with walking and driving, but that's your problem, not the district's. If your child has a disability, as opposed to being careless, you can have transportation added to an IEP or 504 plan. |
The snow has already been over for hours. There's no reason for a delay. It's like it would even help with the issues you claim to be concerned about. Things aren't going to melt during those two hours. We'd still have the same conditions. |
Whatever melts today will spread across lots and sidewalks and then refreeze when it’s 19 deg overnight. |
They're working on a Sunday?? |
Yes facilities folks work every day and sometimes overnight. |
