I hate MAGA and everything they stand for, and also all of their incompetent hires like Hegseth.

Unrelated to that, I think people should dress better for traveling and more importantly behave better while traveling. I personally think travel is too cheap and it draws out all sorts of trashy people.

The trashiest one of all landed a whole airplane for himself from Qatar.

Yes, we should make air fare and hotels more expensive than they already are. Also increase gas prices for those going in cars and jack up tickets to any sort of entertainment, museums, etc. because the prices are just too dang low.

Right. It needs to be more expensive so only highly refined people like you can partake.

God forbid a poor get to travel to visit family. Just stay home, poors!

Stockings and pantyhose are a bad idea from a safety standpoint. High heat will melt them onto skin and make burns much worse.

Heels on an inflatable slide also seems like a bad idea.

My mom used to ALWAYS wear a skirt and hose for flying (back in the 1980s and into the early 90s.) I kept saying that trying to get panty hose off and on in an airport bathroom is a special kind of torture.

The only time I've really been irked at someoen's airplane gear was a young woman wearing a micromini skirt on a flight to a vacation area -- she had the window seat and had to scooch by me to get out to use the bathroom and my face was literally in her underwear. I would have been much happier had she been wearing PJ pants. So long as the clothes aren't smelly and cover up their private parts, I'm fine with whatever people want to wear.

Yep.

He doesn't talk about how big the seats were then does he?

Seriously. If he wants passengers to go back to 1960s standards of dress, then he needs to talk to the airlines about going back to the 1960s standards for seat size/leg room and service. Pretty telling he's lecturing us while not saying a thing about the airlines.

You wouldn't fly then. 1960s prices were high. So high that normal people could not afford to fly.

Wrong:

"According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for airline fares are 981.56% higher in 2025 versus 1963 (a $981.56 difference in value).

Between 1963 and 2025: Airfare experienced an average inflation rate of 3.91% per year. This rate of change indicates significant inflation. In other words, airfare costing $100 in the year 1963 would cost $1,081.56 in 2025 for an equivalent purchase. Compared to the overall inflation rate of 3.86% during this same period, inflation for airfare was higher."

When I went to college in 1990, my roundtrip flights from a small airport out west to a small airport in the East were almost $1,000. That would be $2,480 in today's dollars. I remember how much they were because I couldn't afford to come home for breaks, and I was scrounging for every discount with getting student credit cards and so forth. Now my kid is like "oh, I think I'll fly half way across the country to go to a concert with a friend" and it's not that big a deal. And she can change flights! If I had to change a flight in 1990, it was like you needed to sell a family heirloom to afford the change fees.

Yes, it should be limited to the sort of trashy people who treat service workers as inferiors.

Looking like a model is more important than legal talent (see Lindsay Halligan). Being overweight is a fatal sin if you’re a reporter. How you wear your medals is more important than why you received them (see Mark Kelly).

And Hegseth's speech go the troops was all about appearance. They are not good looking people and they are the ones who wear pajamas. They think the whole world needs help but it's mostly them who do.

Or you know, just behave! Have you seen the people on youtube screaming at gate agents and having to be removed from the airport by security? They are always wearing skimpy clothes with too much skin showing, often have tattoos and otherwise just look trashy.

And lots more like these. I don't want to travel with these people.

And now people complain about climate change while flying to concerts.

He must be trolling us all with this preaching about civility on airplanes less than a week after “Quiet Piggy.”
