Can you afford to buy coffee?

The cost of our 2lb Mayorga coffee beans has gone up maybe $2-3, it's fine.

Small-batch, locally fresh roasted per pound prices are indeed very high now, but bulk beans from Costco are still not budget-busting.

Coffee is a luxury anyway; nobody "needs" to consume it, so while we may wish it was less expensive we are not actually substantially adversely impacted if we give it up.

And, you can always drink less expensive alternatives, like instant coffee, and coffee made from less costly Robusta beans instead of pricier Arabica varieties.

I can’t believe all the aoologists for the ridiculous price hikes we’re seeing.

What can be done? It's because of the stupid tariffs. People aren't going to be able to buy any food in a few weeks. Coffee is the least of our worries.

Are you talking about people on ebt? You sound hysterical. I’m worried about inflation but what are you referring to here? It’s not like we are seeing grocery stores change prices every hour.

Yes there is inflation, but for the moment it's quite contained. People who are struggling with food prices now are operating on exceptionally tight budgets.

DH and I both have jobs and can’t help but notice how much food prices, along with everything else, have gone up. I don’t know why people are justifying the increased prices or saying to do without. The prices are increased due to government policies such as tariffs. It’s reality, and it’s annoying.

Then donate more to your cause. What’s really annoying is people like you who express fake outrage on every post without doing anything about it. And, no, don’t even try to”we give $xxxx” crap.

I’m so glad that I prefer drip coffee over espresso and lattes now. It would be so much more expensive to be continuing to buy lattes daily! I look forward to my regular cup of coffee every morning.

Fake outrage? Trust it's well founded outrage (and you are responding to multiple people).

I donate time, money, meals every month to the local shelter, snacks to the child advocacy center, and time at the local pantry to sort donations. I have a full time job, and I do my part through both volunteerism, activism and voting. It's not enough.

Coffee is still the least of the current worries. You don't have to have an exceptionally tight budget when government workers aren't even getting paid.

The issue is that individual donations can't come close to closing the gap, especially when the donors themselves are getting squeezed on prices. Relying on individual donations to overcome inflation and the ginormous cuts to food aid is impossible.

NP- I have my own espresso machine and have a cappucino daily at home. It's cheap and a huge treat to me! Because of that I hardly ever buy coffee out, only when traveling.

I don't believe that and no, it's not part of MAHA. It's part of you trying to spin it as a political issue.

NP-I reduced my Starbucks habit to 2x/week tops and make coffee at home the rest of the time. I buy ground beef but that's it, other cuts are too expensive.

My coffee at home still costs only a quarter a cup or so. It’s a lot cheaper than a donut or cereal or soda.

Folgers, Please.
I rather quit cold turkey or switch to tea.

PP you replied to. DCUM is mostly Democratic and very much against tariffs and the current administration. The best way to get through the next few years is by being rational, instead of hysterical, OP.

Prices have increased. They will continue to do so. If you want to do something about it, you need to volunteer and donate to efforts pushing for a change in party at the top.

Surely you understand this.

Change to what ?
More veggies, more fruits, more bread, rice and beans ?
Everything is more than double in price.

Fasting and eating once a day?
That’s a winner.
