Tea has gone up too. Black tea isn’t a common crop in the US and is overwhelmingly imported. Like coffee. Tariffs are hitting coffee and tea hard. |

An increase of a few dollars per pound may be a relatively big change in price but in actual dollars is effectively trivial for most people.
Small-batch, locally fresh roasted per pound prices are indeed very high now, but bulk beans from Costco are still not budget-busting. Coffee is a luxury anyway; nobody "needs" to consume it, so while we may wish it was less expensive we are not actually substantially adversely impacted if we give it up. And, you can always drink less expensive alternatives, like instant coffee, and coffee made from less costly Robusta beans instead of pricier Arabica varieties. |

I can understand that people who are out of work right now are anxious about their expenses, but all these threads about food prices are overly dramatic.
Yes there is inflation, but for the moment it's quite contained. People who are struggling with food prices now are operating on exceptionally tight budgets. |
This is likely true. But you forgot the fact that tea is Garbage Water. |
Rubbish. |
| It has definitely gone up, but it is still around $10 per pound which can last me a couple of weeks. I’m not buying it daily at Starbucks. |
| I’ve been noticing coffee prices climbing. A regular size bag of Starbucks is $14.99 at my Target—that’s new. It will take a lot for me to cut back but I’m spending more. |
Coffee is good for your liver - it is more of a necessity than you might think |
I can’t believe all the aoologists for the ridiculous price hikes we’re seeing. |
Not around me. Over $10 for a 12 oz bag. |
But unnecessary for the mentally unstable and those who took their meds today. |
What can be done? It's because of the stupid tariffs. People aren't going to be able to buy any food in a few weeks. Coffee is the least of our worries. |
| Probably? But I've never been a coffee drinker. And I eat beef maybe once a month? Often less. Maybe you just need to change your diet. |
Yes "just don't buy x" gets ridiculous when X is turning into everything. Just don't buy coffee, meat, fruits, veggies, etc. I've made some food bank donations but the reality is food is costing them more and no amount of individual donations is going to make up the devastating cuts in BBB and the loss of SNAP next month. |
Maybe this thread isn't for you. |
