Should minorities carry their passports/identification?

Specifically, the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) Section 264(e) states that every alien aged 18 and over must carry this card or alien registration receipt card "at all times". Failure to do so can result in fines or even imprisonment.

Because I go for walks and runs, I bike places. I don't need ID unless I am driving or getting on an airplane. This is the effing USA, not soviet Russia.

As a doctor, please buy an arm band ID holder. Or a slim running belt for your ID. It is devastating when we get a Doe victim who expires before we can get family to them or even place a phone call for them to hear from a loved one.

So many US citizens don't have passports. They are, by and large, the poorer citizens. They should not be punished for not having papers

Agreed, but I think we've gotten to the point where, if they are US citizens but "look foreign," they will need to have one and carry it on their person at all times. A passport card costs $65 and a passport book costs $130. Given that we don't have national ID cards like other countries, that's the next best thing.

USA really has low ID and travel demands versus most other developed countries. It started that way due to big brother “privacy” demands, but now it’s out of control with fraudulent IDs, no visa documents, fake names, unpaid bills, don’t even know who’s in the damn country.

People are being hysterical. Many years ago I studied abroad in Russia, which is actually a country where authorities can and will stop foreign-looking people (or anyone) and ask for your papers. This is not anything even remotely close to that.

They run your ID and if it’s up to date, accurate and matches your face and other IDs, yours all set.

If they run it and it’s fake that’s illegal and you can get fined, confiscated, jailed and more.
