100% agree. The number of trucks on our street is insane.

I don't have trash pickup now and I don't want it. I don't currently pay for trash removal so why would I want to be forced to pay for it.

You would not be. Suggest reading the actual proposal instead of relying on DCUM.

I'm all for this. There used to be two trash companies when we moved into our neighborhood. There are now at least four and trucks roam in the neighborhood every weekday.

You believe that Fairfax County is going to get the best price or be capable of ensuring the contractors aren't shirking?

Yes. We moved from Falls Church/Fairfax County where we had county trash and recycling service and they were great. They were always on time, the workers were friendly, they communicated the holiday schedule and adhered to it, and they offered free bulk trash pickups. The company that services our neighborhood now (Republic) does none of those things. They are horrible, and I'm told that none of the other options are any better. I would be thrilled with County-regulated trash service.

I equate a county run waste management program with hours on the phone wasted to report repetitive missed pickups, raccoons and other pests tearing apart trash bags because the bins were overloaded after multiple missed services, and empty promises to send a truck and ultimately me stinking up my own car to personally drive the leftover trash to the dump My blood pressure still rises with frustration about time that I could’ve been productive or spending time with my family, instead of Leaving message after message and sitting on hold for hours to report that my trash had been missed yet again. Please leave us with our own choice on our trash service provider. My experience with Nightingale waste management has been 100% rewarding, and every time I see their trucks drive down my street, I’m so grateful that I moved to my neighborhood and was able to make that choice.

This is just an obvious advertisement. Try harder, Nightingale PR lady.
