Why aren't any Catholic MAGAS commenting on the new Pope?

Big politics in church. And popularity. Don’t fool yourself.

Truly, the above is tongue-in-cheek. I think I know why MAGAs are not commenting. They are not happy with the choice. They know it's a slap in the face to Trump.

They didn't get to own the libs with this one....the pope is a lib and if they read their bible they know Jesus was a caring human too, I'm sure they are pissed off.

You cannot be liberal and anti-abortion, anti-women in leadership roles, anti-LGBTQ...No. You like some of his ideas but let's not get carried away. The man is a conservative and more like a charitable old school GOP.

The Catholic Church doesn't choose a leader to slap the face of someone who will be relevant for just four more years. Popes are Popes until death. Electing Popes is serious business and they take it seriously. American voters should take voting more seriously considering the unfit two most recent POTUSs.

Who said anything about a Pope lasting more than 4 years?

Yes, Jesus was a caring human but he told people to “Go and sin no more.”

I wish Americans took our elections more seriously. While Trump may be president for just a short time, he can do lots of damage.

Because we take it seriously is why we rejected Kamala. Another crazy train Biden term just wasn’t going to work.

Given some of the comments here, it sounds like Republicans are currently defending their vote for Trump by saying they thought Kamala would be worse. Now, of course, they see how bad Trump is, but can't quite disown him without disowning the Republican Party.

They are getting there, but slowly.

What is there to be sorry about? I can't stand MAGA. I am saying he is very similar to MAGA on many topics while rejecting some of their ideals. It's not so different from Pope Francis who aligned with Joe Biden in some ways but called him out on abortion.

Something tells me that you would dump on MAGA matter what they say, or even if they say nothing. You folks need to find a candidate more impressive than Kamala Harris and find a positive, substantive message other than division politics distain for Trump, or you are going to be a permanent minority party.

You cannot be both MAGA and Catholic. I hope one day you can stop lying to yourself. I pray in your general direction.

Who put you in charge of what people can align with?

Basic logic says so. Trump and MAGA are as far from the teachings of Christ as you can get. Hope that helps.

You do not understand. It is not about Trump but the party. If Kamala had been a Republican, MAGA would have voted for her.

Here are the 3 main reasons born-again Christians (as opposed to liberal Cultural people who identify as Christians) vote overwhelmingly against the D party:

1) The Democratic party upholds homosexuality as normal and acceptable whereas God calls it sexual immorality and an abomination.

2) The Democratic party makes excuses for the killing of babies in the womb. Abortion, in most cases, is the result of fornication and adultery. Democrats, especially lesbians, rabidly support and approve of abortion.

3) The Democratic party is the home of Global Socialism —communism, which by its nature seeks to abolish capitalism, ownership of private property, and ownership of weapons to defend your home and family.

+1 Trump lost the popular vote against Clinton. Our potus is not selected by a popular vote. I wish it was.

How many dolls are kids allowed to have under socialism?
Democrat socialists would say it is unfair that some people can afford dolls whereas some cannot; therefore, nobody can have a doll. “You can look at one in the museum as an example of evil capitalism where some get to have stuff and some don’t. “

Eventually, under Democrat rule, only Black or gay dolls would be put on the shelf to “fight past injustices”.

What Trump was illustrating with dolls is that America is restructuring. During that process, you may have to cut back a little until the imbalances are corrected.

I tell you a truth: had Trump run as a Democrat there would be no talk of sins —why, EVERYBODY does it. Trump would be called the Champion of our borders, a person who hires women, and all around great guy who plays golf like Clinton and Biden did.

Pope Leo has brown people heritage on his maternal side. Not sure how well that will go over with MAGA.

JD Vance said something nice about having an American Pope yesterday.

But after the poor optics of having forced himself on dying Pope Francis, he had to make nice with the new Pope, even if the new Pope Leo has already called out Vance for his cruel and incorrect interpretation of Catholic theology.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/08/us/politics/jd-vance-pope-leo-xiv.html
Months before Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost became the first American pope, a social media account under his name expressed criticism of Vice President JD Vance, sharing an article that called the vice president’s interpretation of Christian doctrine “wrong.”

The piece, published in The National Catholic Reporter, was a rebuttal to Mr. Vance’s interpretation of a Catholic teaching that he had used to defend the Trump administration’s deportation policies.

The post on X, which the account shared in February, was one of several that highlighted articles criticizing the Trump administration’s positions on immigration.
