They don’t know how well P.Francis positioned Cardinals to continue his work. Pope Leo is not the conservative they think he is.

Oh you’re a friend of his or just making up garbage?

My MAGA aunt was excited until someone told her he talked trash about Trump and JD. Now she is mad about it.

I should add, Catholic-identifying twice-divorced aunt.

Haha none of these anecdotes are real

Truly, the above is tongue-in-cheek. I think I know why MAGAs are not commenting. They are not happy with the choice. They know it's a slap in the face to Trump.

I run in some pretty conservative Catholic circles. Lots of Trump voters in that group. All praises and glory to God in my chat groups today (including my weekly devotional group that is hardcore Trump). One kid who I know is just short of a reactionary incorporated the new Pope’s words into a speech he gave at school this afternoon. People don’t fit into neat categories. Go meet some of them.

Something tells me that you would dump on MAGA matter what they say, or even if they say nothing. You folks need to find a candidate more impressive than Kamala Harris and find a positive, substantive message other than division politics distain for Trump, or you are going to be a permanent minority party.

You cannot be both MAGA and Catholic. I hope one day you can stop lying to yourself. I pray in your general direction.

The Catholic Church doesn't choose a leader to slap the face of someone who will be relevant for just four more years. Popes are Popes until death. Electing Popes is serious business and they take it seriously. American voters should take voting more seriously considering the unfit two most recent POTUSs.

The American election is a popularity contest. The election of a pope is based on “How competently has this person performed his duties and faithfully served the church.”

The RNC and DNC have turned our election process into a clown auction with the winner being bought by the highest bidding entity seeking to purchase influence in American Federal Government. The two parties have made a joke of our electoral process.

So are MAGA excited or not? Sounds like Lots of discussion but not excitement.

Who put you in charge of what people can align with?

As I said, wait and see mode. He seems conservative on gender and homosexual blessings etc, liberal on migration and the environment. A registered Republican but has made statements critical of Vance. Not a lot of information to go on really.

I wish Americans took our elections more seriously. While Trump may be president for just a short time, he can do lots of damage.
