DP, but I also had an hours-long "interaction" with Mel years ago. I say interaction because we never actually met, but were at the same casino in Las Vegas for several hours within eyesight of each other. First, at a restaurant (he was having dinner at a table with a number of non-famous people and a child - I assume manager, agent, etc. and his youngest kid and I was seated at the bar about 25 feet away), and then on the casino floor - he was gaming at the table directly in front of me for a couple hours. It was a weeknight, the restaurant and casino were not busy, and the behaviour I could see was fine. He smiled at and appeared agreeable and polite with waitstaff and casino dealers. Not many people approached him, but he wasn't trying to avoid it either (was gaming on the main casino floor, not in the high limit room) and seemed pleasant to those who did. This was probably ~2009 - after he'd divorced his wife but before he had the full on meltdown with the baby mama etc. |
I met her too when I was younger. She kept referring to me as "sweetie." I thought she was very nice. |

FIL worked at a school where the Rolling Stones were rehearsing, rural CT in the mid-1980s. He was there setting up his room over the summer ... They invited him into the rehearsal space, signed autographs, said to help himself to the food and drinks etc. Best friend grew up with Conan O'Brien - his whole family is very normal and nice, or at least was. |

Brian Regan. The comic. Several years ago my friend's sister lost her husband tragically young leaving 3 young kids. The oldest son was a huge Brian Regan fan and used to listen to Brian Regan CDs with his dad. Brian was coming to town and my friend got a special waver to allow for his nephew to go to the comedy club even though he was about 13 at the time. When the show as over - and Brian was like always awesome - the club's manager came over and said that Brian had heard about the situation and wanted to meet everyone backstage. We all went backstage where we saw Brian sitting at a dingy table alone eating a Subway sandwich. "Welcome to the glitz and glamor of Hollywood!" he boomed as he stood up and shook everyone's hand. He was super nice to everyone and gave my friend's nephew special attention. Total class act. |

Amazing! She seemed like an exceptional lady. When she passed away the Washington Post put her on the cover with her famous quote, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." It sounds like she lived her own advice. This is one of the wisest things I have ever read and I keep a copy of the newspaper in my office. |
This. I arrived early to a celebrity event and ignored as should have been case bc was not part of that world. When my “date” arrived and people saw who I was with, suddenly everyone wanted to say hello and meet me in hopes would get them some pull for their next job. It’s a definitely a tough business when have to network for jobs so often if haven’t landed that rare 10 season tv show. |

I'm the PP. It was definitely jarring the first few times when people would quite literally stop talking to me once they knew I wasn't anyone. Kourtney and Kendall Kardashian were actually really nice, especially Kendall. Their sisters? Definitely the type who wanted nothing to do with you if you couldn't do anything for them. |
