Why hasn't William and Mary gotten rid of its DEI yet?

That’s exactly what being against “DEI” is about. It means treating *everyone* equally and fairly, with dignity and decency. Not just certain people.

You seem very confused.

Exactly. DEI is just organizational racism.

Inclusion is racist. How so?

The real question is why have UVA, VCU, VT capitulated in advance of any formal legislation? Berkeley, UCLA, and UIUC haven't, to name a few publics.

💯

OP’s framing of the question is informative.

Equity ?
Inclusion?

Also, what are you talking about?

Wow. Didn't know this would strike such a cord. I was just curious, I'm not against DEI at all. I think diversity has been proven to be beneficial for institutions of all sorts and that DEI is a crucial part of ensuring diversity. I was just wondering why it is the case that other Virginia universities have gotten rid of their DEI programs while William and Mary hasn't.

You started a very trollish and argumentative way. It seemed like you were a trump troll who approves of discrimination

So when white men were given preferences that was ok? How are others supposed to gson parity with white men's boot on our neck? And now you want to go back?

+1. It manages to be very old, pretty respected and yet fly under the radar. There aren’t even sports rivalries. There is zero appetite for messing with it.

We have rivalries with UR and UVA but both are pretty one sided in terms of wins

Does W&M play any D1 sports against UVA?

Yes we play them in at least 1 sport a year. Usually football or baseball or soccer or field hockey.

Hmm. Interesting W&M parent and did not know. At any rate, that’s still not a sports rivalry in the way people love/hate Duke or UNC because basketball. That’s just ritual humiliation for W&M, which I imagine they accept with a decent attitude.

I recommend going at least once

Because DEI as implemented has 0 to do with inclusion; it’s all about separating and judging people by race.

How dare they try to make non-majority folks feel welcome and included!?

Actually, given that fewer men than women apply to colleges these days, if we treat all applications blindly with no balance in mind, I'm guessing W&M would turn even more majority female than it already is. Most colleges would be like this as well. Maybe the OP wants fewer men to go to college. Or perhaps they want gender segregated schools.

Chord. Not cord.

And, no, that wasn't a typo. You're just dumb.

Inclusion is separation?

Is this sort of like "War is peace" or "freedom is slavery?"

Or is this just some weird hangup of yours where you feel personally threatened by policies like this because you think you're a good person but really you are not and you haven't overcome the cognitive dissonance necessary to change that?

“Diversity is strength” sounds way more Orwellian

Oh FFS. Here is W&M’s “Diversity & Inclusion” webpage. Please tell me exactly what “DEI program” you disapprove of or believe is illegal.

https://www.wm.edu/offices/diversity/

And since you won’t read the links and hate immigrants, my (American Citizen) DD is in “Global Village”. It has nothing to do with foreign students. It’s living in a language immersion environment for student majoring in a foreign language. Next year, rather than housing them separately, they have a space to house them together on one floor in a new dorm. This makes sense, because the houses collaborate on programming (super offensive stuff like “International Dessert Night,” etc). Remembering this is a lot of IR kids who traditionally go into government service and many of the foreign languages are designated “critical” because the government cannot fine enough security clearable fluent speakers for national security, diplomatic and business needs. And immersion is crucial to language acquisition.

So I’ll debunk that one. What else? What here is illegal even under Trumps illegal EO?

No it’s not. It’s a public state university.

And yet, it’s definitely LAC adjacent. It’s a unicorn— very unique for public university.

Horrendous grammatical error. Begone, redundancy!

Apparenly “American citizens shall obey or be shipped to El Salvador with no due process”. Bet Pp likes that.
